I am confused here. Why are Suzanne and Joyce not speaking to each other (after all of these years). What caused it? Was there any jealousy?

View Full Version : Question: Suzanne and Joyce LucyFan 09-24-2001, 05:09 AM I am confused here. Why are Suzanne and Joyce not speaking to each other (after all of these years). What caused it? Was there any jealousy? Truth 09-24-2001, 05:28 AM Kinda a long story, According to the Threes Company Book(Come and knock on our door, a hers and hers and his guide to Three's Company) Chrissy kept asking for more money, then wouldnt show up to do the show cause she hurt herself(Some dont believe that) Then they all started gettin mad at her for not comin, then she tried to sue the producers, Kind of a long story, sorry i couldnt provide too much help.... Sean Snow 09-24-2001, 06:07 PM ACt. that's half right. Suzanne wanted to come back by midseason, but the producers had an ego problem. She sued after they fired her. But remember, Cindy williams sued the producers of LS for 20 MILLION in 1982 for being taken off TV Guy 09-26-2001, 11:32 PM Suzanne said some very inflammatory things in the press during her dispute, such as encouraging people to stop watching the show. John and Joyce greatly resented this, as the demise of the show would have put a lot of innocent people out of work, including themselves. As John said, "You're not supposed to try to kill the baby." Neither Suzanne nor the producers conducted themselves particularly admirably during the dispute. Suzanne didn't exactly sue the producers for firing her -- she sued them for not paying her for an episode she missed due to a medical problem, and for several subsequent episodes where she was written out as punishment. An arbitrator decided partially in her favor, and said they had to pay her for one of the missed episodes. Suzanne also wanted punitive damages because she felt the producers were trying to ruin her career, but this complaint was dismissed. She was paid full salary for the remainder of the season, even though she only appeared in brief scenes where Chrissy made phone calls to Janet. Her contract was up at the end of that season, and the producers chose not to renew it. Ultimately, she was no longer on the show, but it's a little different from being fired. The whole thing ended up being very complicated. If you're interested, you might want to consider picking up the "Come and Knock on Our Door" book. The author details the whole mess in detail, and is pretty objective about it. [This message has been edited by TV Guy (edited 09-26-2001).] |
