What's everyone's fave film that was made in memory of a singer or actor? I like all the films in the list, but my most fave is Moonlight Mile (2002).

It's my favorite movie of all time. But La Bamba's good too. Cactus Jack 09-23-2004, 07:41 AM I chose other , my fav is The Buddy Holly Story dandelion wine 09-23-2004, 12:55 PM I also chose other, for The Buddy Holly Story. Gary Busey rocked! Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and La Bamba also get my vote. webuster 09-23-2004, 03:32 PM I haven't seen many, but I thought 'Me and My Shadows: life with Judy Garland' was a really great film. Alicia Witt was brilliant as a young Judy Garland. JT 09-23-2004, 06:28 PM "The Karen Carpenter Story" (it made me fall in love with her and the music!) Alicia Witt was brilliant as a young Judy Garland. Ooh, good one. I can't believe I didn't think of that one first  BTW, it was Tammy Blanchard who played young Judy, but I agree, she was fantastic. My personal favorite thing about that movie was Hugh Laurie as Vincente Minnelli :) *MIBabe03* 09-23-2004, 10:29 PM Selena was really good. On top of that it was pre J LO. Cactus Jack 09-24-2004, 08:17 AM Originally posted by little insomniac I also chose other, for The Buddy Holly Story. Gary Busey rocked! Awesome!:D  Yup he did, Buddy Holly rocked too and still does! Dean Winchester 09-24-2004, 06:33 PM the only thing I dislike about biopics (La Bamba and Selena come t mind) is that they never deal with the aftermath of their deaths. The characters have been established, yet in Selena, all we see is the actors crying when they find out she's dead. No... after Selena died, this happened to ___, that happened to ___. Same with La Bamba. His brother and mother were just as fleshed out, but as soon as Richie dies, all you do is see his older brother stand out on the hill and screams his name. Nothing else about the aftermaths. We grew interested in these characters as well in biopics that it would've been very nice to know what happened to these supporting characters. AKA 09-24-2004, 06:34 PM Man On The Moon, though historically inaccurate (they even admit as much at the beginning of the film) gets my vote. Dude111 01-12-2023, 08:35 PM Selena |
