Which kinds of CD's do you guys like better?

I've gotta say live because of CD's like "Live 1964, Live 1975, and Live 1966" all amazing live Dylan stuff. I always love the bootlegs I've got of Dylan shows, Xavier shows, Ryan Adams shows, Neil Young shows and REM.

Great thread, Modfather!

Dylan's bootleg series is amazing. I also really like the live sets that Pearl Jam releases.

I have tons of live albums in my collection, and I love almost all of them. Even so, I prefer studio recordings as a general rule.

:yeahthat There's only one artist in particular (obvious) who I'd love to have a bunch of live recordings from. Most everyone else I like though, the studio albums they release satisfy me enough. Maybe that's because I've never been a huge concert-goer. But I do have some great live bootlegs from my favorite artist that I've been listening to alot lately. Helps me to appreciate his music even more.

Well I prefer a concert over a CD any day, but live recordings are different. I guess if it's a legit live CD it's okay, but bootlegs can be terrible, quality wise.

I'd rather listen to a live CD. It's just....there's something about it that makes it more appealing to me.

I like live better. The music and vocals sound louder and more energetic than on a regular studio CD.

Well, a few weeks ago, I would've definitely said studio recordings, but I just recently bought Garth Brooks' "Double Live," and it's absolutely amazing.

I'm not sure how I would like other artists live, but Garth's a maniac at his concerts, so this CD is great.

i wouldn't want a live cd without the studio album first. it makes it better. i doubt i'd enjoy metallica's S&M cd as much if i hadn't already heard the studio versions.

That's a good point. There are songs on the Garth album that I've never heard before, so I don't know what they really sound like...ya know, without all the screaming and craziness.

I like Studio media better because usually they dont do it right live and the vocals you can barely hear!

I do have some live stuff I like

ALLMAN BROTHERS LIVE AT FILLMORE EAST - 8track,cassette and record
DEEP PURPLE MADE IN JAPAN - 8track,record
BARRY MANILOW LIVE - 8track
Crosby Stills and Nash 4 WAY STREET - 8track
Judith Priest - Unleashed in the East - I have the cassette and record

Thankfully the vocals are loud and nice on these..

I love both, but I will say that I prefer CDs over vinyl and cassettes.

God bless you always!!!
