I like Joey. I think it will last at least five seasons.

I think Listen Up is a nice vehicle for Jason Alexander and Malcolm Jamal Warner. I caught the premiere last night and enjoyed it. Mostly. I thought it didn't use its full potential and had a lot of sitcom cliches. I don't see it lasting past the November sweeps.

I'm looking forward to the new John Goodman series, but embarassingly, the title has escaped me.

I was in love with the show once they started naming cast members. Marcia Cross...Nicolette Sheridan...Teri Hatcher...Eva Longoria...Felicity Huffman.

I smell a hit! And hopefully, the return of primetime soaps and the death of reality! I give DH at least until 2008.

I'm now waiting for the sixth season of TAR. Do you guys see the finale? It was the best episode of a reality series, ev er, I swear to god. When Kim & Chip won, I actually shed tears of joy and excitement. Hopefully, CBS'll put it in a better timeslot, which is very likely.

I haven't seen the second Joey yet (taped it). Same for Jack & Bobby. Both debut episodes were okay. For the most part all the shows I'm looking forward to are dramas: Lost, Life As We Know It, Desperate Housewives, Veronica Mars, Kevin Hill, Clubhouse, maybe CSI:NY. Also American Dreams season 3 and the eventual return of 24.

I do like Joey. LAX I think is pretty good and Listen Up is alright. It could be better though. I'm really waiting for Clubhouse, Desperate Housewives and Lost.

Primetime soaps were NO WHERE WHATSOEVER in the 1980s near what reality shows are now. Every single network has their flagship reality show with a few others on the side and the network seems to spend the most money on their reality shows. There were only 4 big primetime soaps in the 80s (Dallas, Knots Landing, Dynasty and Falcon Crest) and while they were extremely popular, they weren't as cherished by the networks as reality shows are today. Reality shows come on every single night I believe, but primetime soaps only aired on Wednesdays (DYN), Thursdays (KL) and Fridays (DLLS and FC). Sure there were several short-lived ones (Bare Essence, Paper Dolls, Berrengers) and some that were short-lived but ran for longer than a season (Flamingo Road, The Colbys), but they didn't cloud the schedules as bad as reality shows. And it seems that everytime you look up one reality show is being cancelled and another is starting. It's pretty damn frustrating.

All I'm asking for is at least 4 primetime soaps, just like in the 80s. We can "The OC," "Desperate Housewives," and if they are big hits this season, I'd like CBS and NBC to try their hand. And I don't mean those stupid action soaps like LV and "The Sopranos" and stuff. I hate those shows.

Yeah alot of people are saying that ABC might make a big comeback this year, they've got the best and strongest lineup this year(if they give shows a chance to make it)

I hated "Rodney." The story could have been played out the exact same way on "According to Jim." ABC's taking a page from CBS's big book of "fat dumb husband, young hot wife."

True.... but According To Jim couldve made it work.
It was just a little too country for me.


Also, Lost isn't all that good, IMO.

Rodney actually held almost off of its lead-in, which is a very good sign, but NBC is still much stronger than expected in the hour with FOTP basically holding Frasier's levels from a year ago. A big factor last night, I would imagine, was the finale of The Amazing Race, which won from 9 to 11 pm in adults, easily doubling was CBS drew in the timeslots last year.

I though that the premieres might hurt TAR, but they didn't- it set a series record. I think it's pretty clear now that CBS will keep the show on the night. The only problem is deciding what gets moved- Clubhouse or Judging Amy. My vote would go to JA, which is getting up there in years and would probably hold most of its audience were it moved to Saturdays at 10pm.

Also, the UPN is seeing a surprizing decline in audience so far with Monday and Tuesday sitcom premieres barely topping repeats that aired over the summer. The WB had a big night on Tuesday with "Gilmore Girls" beating every airing last season and "One Tree Hill" hitting 5.2mil viewers- a series record. Who would've thunk it- after premiering to just 2.5mil viewers last season that this would be the WB's break-out of the year?

ABC Monday and Tuesday line-ups weren't the real test for the network- the test will come on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, especially Sunday.

ABC has premiered three new shows so far, and they're all awful. And I've seen the "Complete Savages" pilot, so I know that's awful. (Like the names Mike Scully and Julie Thacker-Scully couldn't have clued me in.) And everyone has seen the "life as we know it" pilot, and I can't imagine there is a soul on earth who doesn't know it's awful. So remind me again why the critics are cooing and drooling over their garbage, and how exactly it's better than the garbage they aired last season? The only thing I can think of is the Disney payola machine must be working overtime this year.

NBC's shows are also pretty painful, although they at least have standout opening sequences. Hey, got to praise something, ya know...

Lost premiered tonight, and besides the actual plane crash, I was disappointed. I was really looking forward to it too.

I also accidentially tuned into Veronica Mars (I really had no intention of tuning in at anytime).... but I really liked it.

If it were on Wednesdays it would be perfect.... but Tuesdays at 9 doesnt really work with other shows I watch.

I wanted to check out Veronica Mars, but I forgot to.

And I agree, "Jim" would have done a much better version of Rodney's pilot. The woman who played Rodney's wife sucked at acting.

And I hated Lost completely.

Complete Savages, I'll try out, but I doubt it'll hold my interest for long...

I haven't seen Lost yet, I have it on tape but I did like Rodney.

I rather enjoyed "Veronica Mars." It is not a classic by any stretch of the imagination -- it is not even as good as Rob Thomas' "Cupid" -- but it was pleasant and the time went by quickly. (Although maybe that's because UPN squeezed 2 or 3 minutes out of it to give to "Top Model.")

"Lost" somehow seemed even more tedious on TV than it did on the computer. (Although maybe that's because on the computer, there wasn't all sorts of junk superimposed on top of the picture.)

Basically, the only new ABC show I've seen that had an OK pilot was "Desperate Housewives." The only one I haven't seen is "Boston Legal." So, at best, they have 2 good new shows. Out of 8. Yeah, it's a banner year alright.

Big news: Lost premiered to 18 million viewers, ABC's first new breakout show since My Wife & Kids, but even bigger than that. Next week's numbers will tell the tale, but this is amazing.

Also, CSI NY beat L&O by 3 million viewers.

I'm probably in the minority but I really liked Complete Savages, it def. has that TGIF "feel" to it :)

is Rodney a comedian or country singer? I dunno why, but when I heard "Rodney Carrington is getting a sitcom", I was thinking he was a country singer ala Reba. Then other things are calling him a comic. Which is he? I dunno why but I swore he was a country singer, unless he just has a country name, lol.

There was a few times I cracked up, it's a funny and fun show :)

I think Center of the Universe might be good.

I really liked Lost. And so did many others it seems. It built viewers from sign on to sign off, always a good sign -- dominated it's timeslot with over 18.65 million viewers. J.J. Abrams is brilliant. Complete Savages was decent and Rodney was OK. I'm now waiting for Desperate Housewives. I think the dramas (Lost and 'Housewives') are more stronger this season. Complete Savages is probably the best new sitcom.

I liked Complete Savages too.
Ten times better than Rodney

I agree on SVU. It used to be a bad show with bad plotlines and bad acting, then the writing got better, then the plotlines, and now the acting. Tonight's episode about the Chinese immigrants was one of the best pieces of drama I've seen in a long time. I thought the show would do down the drain when Stephanie March left, but the new DA is actually very good.
