I'm wondering: Why was Joyce so bitter in the E! Special. I mean, if she's so religious, why doesn't she give Suzanne another chance? And it sounded like she wanted "Three's a Crowd" to fail!

View Full Version : Joyce-Bitter? Sean Snow 09-02-2001, 11:01 PM I'm wondering: Why was Joyce so bitter in the E! Special. I mean, if she's so religious, why doesn't she give Suzanne another chance? And it sounded like she wanted "Three's a Crowd" to fail! Rama Mageesh 09-03-2001, 12:49 AM I agree! what I don't understand is HOW she knows/blames the producers for everything that happened at the end..and she knows they were dicks. but doesn't understand what suzanne went through with the same scum-bags? Joyce should move on.. and just forgive. I'm telling you I think she was and still is jealous of Suzanne. TV Guy 09-04-2001, 12:12 PM I think she felt she made a valuable contribution to the show, and she was very hurt that she wasn't told about the "Three's a Crowd" plans at the same time as John. She'd been with the show for eight years, and it probably hurt her that she wasn't getting the same respect as John. I'm not saying she should have co-starred on TAC as Jack's girlfriend (too weird!), but the producers should have been upfront with her. It's time for her to get over the Suzanne situation, though. I think there's some jealousy going on there, too. Joyce is the one who had all the formal acting training, but Suzanne has been more successful in acting since the show ended. clare 09-05-2001, 07:50 PM Actually, I admire the fact that Joyce speaks her mind; after all, that's what we're doing here, and I think Joyce should be able to, just like everyone else. I've never bought into the "jealousy" thing, either. What Joyce wanted and what Suzanne wanted in respect to approaching their individual careers were clearly two different things. In respect to Joyce sounding bitter, she strikes me as the kind of person that if you play fair with her, she'll play fair with you. During the show, and ever since, Joyce always defended the fact that TC was an ensemble; she was never looking for any preferential treatment. That E! special is also getting to be a few years old already, so hopefully Joyce and Suzanne have come to a better understanding and have started to heal things over by now... Joyce DeWitt Fan 09-19-2001, 09:57 PM I agree with clare, I think Joyce wasn't jealous, and that she should speak her mind. And what's up with you sean snow? Are you like a Suzanne Somers fanatic? She wasn't fired from the show for no reason...I mean, not to be rude or anything, but the producers did have a reason! Sean Snow 09-20-2001, 06:17 PM You seem like a Joyce DeWitt Fanatic. So why can't I like Suzanne Somers on "Three's Company"? No offence, I always thought Chrissy and Cindy were better then her. (And It Was Harder To Find Suzanne's replacement then Joyce's one episode replacement) ros583 09-21-2001, 08:10 AM You thought Cindy was better????????? Cindy was terrible!!!!! Joyce in my opinion was a better actress than Suzanne but Suzanne got better parts since she was a blonde. Suzanne also went after publicity and got more attention than Joyce who perferred to work on perfecting her scenes. The whole Jack/Janet relationship was why I kept tuning in and why Three's A Crowd failed. ThomasE 09-21-2001, 09:28 AM I thought Cindy was funny. Jenilee Did well considering that was her first time and she was picked out 500 girls. I felt that Joyce seemed a little bothered by what happened. That would have annoyed me too. However it has been 17 years. I say forgive the producers and John, Joyce, along with Suzanne should get together and have a talk. I know Suzanne has moved on and she got the worst end of the stick. At least Joyce told the truth. [This message has been edited by ThomasE (edited 09-21-2001).] |
