I just feel the spats between them should have ended when they became older. Their relationship should have been a little different instead of two adults insulting each each other. They should have had more mature conversation between them.

Was JJ ever really portrayed as being mature and was Thelma ever really portrayed with any depth? The writing was weakening with each passing season in this show and by year 6 it was too late.

I always thought the spats between the two were very corny and lame. Even for brothers and sisters.

They should have had mature spats instead of childish spats. ;)

but that was the basis of their relationship - petty put downs and low jabs. it was how they showed love for oneanother, without being touchy-feely.
to this day (and i am a well adjusted adult) i still bicker and carry on with my siblings. reminds you of the days when you were a kid. and let's be real..siblings will always squabble. no matter the age.
