I've only just discovered the CSI franchise; been watching Miami for a few months, and thanks to Spike TV have seen several eps of the original. I love Gary Sinise, so I'm looking forward to NY.

I didn't care to much for this first showing of CSI: New York! I hope they have better stories than that one. I don't know maybe it was my old t.v but didn't that show seem kind of dark? It seem like everyone was in dark rooms and shadows. I was waiting for Batman to pop out!!;)

CSI NY is dark and gloomy. I read they deliberately made it that way. I like the show so far and I'm sure they'll have better stories than that. I don't really care for the theme song, though. :barf:

I dunno, I kinda liked it.... The lead investigator is rather gloomy tho.... but the plot was bizarre, and I kinda like those on the bizarre side. Some of my favs of the original series were the more bizarre stories, like the people who dressed up in the animal suits!

CSI NY was a hit last night. It bested Law & Order in the 10:00 slot, although it wasn't a landslide.

Miami ~ It was sad, but I was expecting more I think. They should not have let it out that a CSI was going to die. It should have come as a shock to the viewer. As it was, it was expected and therefore kind of ho-hum. The crime that they were investigating was okay, but I kept wondering why they never mentioned the FBI. It was a kidnapping; the FBI is always called in on kidnappings.
New York ~ Not a bad first episode. As far as the characters were involved, they spent most of their time revealing some layers to Mac's history (Sinise). I assume that later episodes will concentrate on the other characters. The crime was eerie, but I was not overly pleased with the cliche villian (warped Russian immigrant). Surely there are capable native New York criminals who could have been targeted in the first episode.
Mac is still grieving over the loss of his wife on 9/11. Of course he's gloomy.
I think that New York itself is presented as dark and gloomy because of all of the shadows caused by the tall buildings.
Las Vegas is garish lighting and dull desert.
Miami is orange/gold sunlight and white sand.
New York is shadows and light.

Las Vegas: They started out as the night shift in earlier episodes but it seems like they work more in the daytime now. I'm really glad the got rid of the first shift CSI character he was a ass!!
