I take a few meds,but I have insurance to pay for them,but if people do not have insurance or other ways of paying meds it can be expensive,there have been talk aboutreducing or doing something else to get them cheaper,one bottle of Ambein cost$100.00.I have a hard time falling al sleep at night so Ambein does help me get to sleep fast,sometimes I bye like over the counter sleeping pills,but thye make me tired all day. I feel fpr people if they have to pay for there meds out of there own pocket.

I had to pay out of my own pocket for Paxil...$92 a month.

Fortunately I now have insurance and it went generic. But it's still $38 a month. That sucks since I have no job.

my mother worked in helath care for 45 years and she thinks its awful that people have to worry about things like this people shuld not have to pay through the nose for meds like they do in other countries they revire the elderly here it seemes lik there trying to drain people dry with these high med costs sorry if i got on a soapbox i just feel very strongly about this topic since i grew up around it all my life sorry about the misspellings.

My parents have a plan that ensures no more than $14.00 for a prescription, thank God, because I've gone through a lot of meds in the past year.

I remember that I was on Paxil a few years ago with no insurance. It sucked. Luckily now the only prescription I have is my birth control pill and it's $31

I have to take Paxil and it is very expensive. Even with insurance it costs about $50 a month.

I'd ask to be switched to Lexapro I was on it I don't remember how much it was but it wasn't that much.

Incase you don't know Lexapro is the sister version of Celexa

The doctor wanted me to be on Paxil. He said that was the best medication for me.

See, y'all like to think that capitalism is cool and your "system" works, but in the UK we have this little thing called The National Health Service. The National Health Service basically means that everyone gets free health care and you don't have to empty your wallet if you're hit by a bus and need sewn back together again.
Of course the NHS has waiting lists and you have the option to pay and get private health care if you so wish. Sometimes we have to pay for our prescriptions too. But essential medication sure doesn't cost us 50 quid a go - that's for damn sure!

No but seriously... I wish I lived in the UK, as far as healthcare goes. For me to go to rehab for not even 2 weeks, it was over $14,000. Our insurance picked it up, but what about people without insurance? It's asinine!

It's also $300.00 a whack for everytime my sister is in physical therapy. She's been in it since March. I'm entering in a few weeks.

I had to go to the emeergency room and it cost $3.000, plus I had surgery which cost another $ 5.000, insurance did pay for every bit of it. I am gald it did because if I did not I would be so broke by now.....

you would have been broke? LOL could you imagine if I had no insurance my surgery costs around $20,000 and they paid all of it. The only thing I had to pay was the $150 copayment.

I had to fill a prescription for my husband recently. We have Blue Cross/Blue Shield, but their prescription plan didn't cover this particular medication. We had to pay $80.

I could have gotten a note from his doctor stating special circumstances, but I had too much going on at the time.

And it's gotten way worse in the last couple decades.

I take no major pharma drugs and spend my money on prevention (supplements) but my recent visit to my MD, Medicare has cut back payments SO MUCH on what they are paying for the office visit which is usually 15 minutes, and on the labs, they have cut so so much out of paying. I had to pay $75 up front on top of my Medicare to the MD as she said Medicare pays hardly anything.

So so thankful I have no big health issues as I hear stories of the high cost of so many drugs.

Story: Reminds me of a incident at CVS probably10 yrs ago or more, a little old man was trying to pick up his meds and they told him $200 and he had to walk away, no meds in hand.

lol...I did switch 7 years later - first to Celexa then to Lexapro. Worst decision ever. I still remember that hell, and it was 10 years ago.
