I'm sure out there, there are songs by artists that you love that you find overrated. Whether they are overplayed, or you hate the "I love ____!! _____ is such a great song" even tho you think the artist has a lot more to offer. Whatever. This thread is for you.

Only for artists you like, I could say "Eminem: all", but since I am not an Eminem fan, it's not fair for me to say that since this is for fans to pick which songs they think are overrated for artists they like.

Madonna - Material Girl, Like A Virgin (these two songs are the reason a lot of people still refuse to take her seriously.... and above that, she has topped these songs so many times but because they are classics... she'll always be associated with them)

Prince - Kiss (quite possibly his most overplayed single. Sad that the other two singles off the Parade album are all but forgotten these days. I actually know a few "Prince is okay, but he's not a fave" types who cite Mountains as their fave Prince song. I even know another person who hated/hates Prince, but Anotherloverholeinyohead and Pop Life are the only two songs he likes. Yet the only song off the album most people know is the weakest track on the whole cd)

David Bowie - Let's Dance (sad that his weakest album in 9 years is the one that really rockets him to pop superstardom. The songs are fine, but they are just overplayed and not really representative of his better work).

Cher - Believe (she had done better dance works in the past [One By One] and in the future [the Living Proof album], yet it's this generic cheesy dance tune that is the one that made everyone go "I forgot how much I loved Cher" for a month)

Olivia Newton-John - Physical (it is a decent song, but it is one of the cheesiest songs she did in this era, yet it's the one she'll be known for till death. The other tracks off the Physical album are far superior, Landslide, Silvery Rain and Stranger's Touch off the same record put this song to shame)

I think that much of Led Zeppelin IV is overrated.
Revolver by The Beatles is WAY overrated, they made countless albums better then Revolver.

well, this list OVERRATED things by artists you like... it'd be hard to argue Revolver being underrated when it is #1 on all the "best album ever" lists, lol

what I never got was why Led Zeppelin IV is the album of theirs that took on mythic proportions and sold the most. Yet... if you look at initial chart performances, it was the only studio album outside their debut album to not go to #1, and the album spent less time in the top 10 than either Led Zeppelin II or Houses Of The Holy did. I know Stairway is a classic, and Rock And Roll will be used as a jingle until the end of time, but why did that one wind up so much bigger than their other albums when it was the only album besides their debut to NOT sell enough initially to be a #1 album. Even Presence went to #1 and Led Zeppelin IV didn't

Black Eyed Peas: Where Is The Love? - I like the song, I really do. But if I have to hear it one more time Im going to claw my ears off.

Celine Dion: My Heart Will Go On - Ok, so Im not the biggest Celine fan, but I do like a lot of her songs. This not being one of them. I cannot stand this song for the life of me. It got waaay overplayed to the point where even after all these years I still cant listen to it.

I've always wondered that myself. The fact that IV includes "Stairway To Heaven" has probably played a big part in the massive sales that album has built up.
