View Full Version : What is the best Straight Man/Silly Man Combination in Sitcom History? TVFactFan 09-15-2004, 08:30 PM This was hard for me because it came to James/J.J Mr. Roper/Jack Tripper Both of these combinations only lasted 2 years but i will have to say it's a tie. That would have to be Bud Abbott, the straight man, and Lou Costello, the silly man, on "The Abbott and Costello Show." Of course, they did not get their start in television. First working together in vaudeville, then later on in films and on radio.
