How many people think Mabel King was one of the most underrated tv mothers ever. Yeah, she didn't have the best lines{That went to Dee, a big mistake if you ask me.} but she was a very positive figure and always seem to offer words of encouragement. There were worst tv mothers that got more props than this talented lady. {Example, Roseanne, Peg Bundy.}

Mabel King was underrated Period!

I was lucky enough to see her on broadway as a child in the Supersoul Musical The Wiz and her song "don't nobody bring me no bad news" became one of my favorite songs of that musical.

All her other credits as well

She is and will always be a great Actress

Also I read this on the Internet Some where, that she actually left The long run she was doing in The Wiz to be on Whats Happening

Mabel King was a great actress, both on television as well as on the stage.
I have seen her on other sitcoms, and she has an amazing depth to her acting ability; and btw, some interesting triva for all ya What's Happening!! fans, Mabel's birth name is Donnie Washington...
