has anyone turned against a show they might've once liked because they hated the way another show they liked better got shafted from a network?

I notice this a lot with Cosby, would a lot of the people who hate his show dislike it as much if Nick At Nite didn't treat it great while treating shows like Cheers and Family Ties like junk (and I know Cheers used to be a hotbed of hate on the Facts Of Life board because it was one of the reasons Nick got rid of FOL).

The only example I can really think of personally is Lifetime and The Golden Girls. I do like the GG, but I hate the way Lifetime treats other shows like junk but yet keeps giving GG the best timeslots possible, even after 7 years. While shows like Ellen and Laverne And Shirley were aired at very bad hours and very underutilized on the Lifetime schedule, when I think they could replace either show in GG's timeslot for a month each. And hell, they really treated Murphy Brown bad too, and in it's peak, MB scored higher in the ratings than GG was.

Block Party Summer of 1997 I think. N@N showed The Monkees on Monday nights. I grew to love the show, and knowing it was only 2 seasons, I figured I'd get to see the whole series that summer.

I was wrong. Out of the blue, Nick decided to do one of their TVL crossovers and replaced The Monkees with Green Acres. I was so mad, that I refuse to ever watch Green Acres again. Which is no loss really, because it's a stupid show, and it was stupid before this incident.

The Nanny is now officially the new Golden Girls on Lifetime,it airs 7 times a day,35 times a week,so they run through the cycle in 4 weeks. I wonder how they will treat Will and Grace in 2005 and Frasier in 2006. I don't know really why treated Ellen and Laverne and Shirley like they did,I thought that if they acquired Laverne and Shirley,we would get older shows such as One Day At A Time,Facts of Life,Alice,etc. But it got shoved to 7:00 A.M. in the mornings so no one is usually up except kids going to school,so that idea didn't work.

So my beef is why Laverne and Shirley didn't do as well as excepted by Lifetime.

Instead they only showed the first season of each and dropped both Sanford and Son and Maude after a month and All In The Family and The Jeffersons stayed.

:nod: Yep Nick at Nite seems to be the culprit for alot of people.

I want to know why the Fresh Prince gets an 8 hour marathon for 4 days when ALL other shows only get a 4 hour marathon for 4 days? What makes TFP get special treatment like that? I have always liked TFP but I can tell I will grow to dislike it cause of the special treatment.

Same with Cosby Show I used to watch it all the time, then it came to N@N and started getting special treament, same with Roseanne.

Now Full House, I don't get why Full House gets special treatment on both N@N and ABC Family?

Also Seinfeld I grew to hate, I got tired of it being called "the best sitcom ever" cause really it's not, I mean it comes out it was ignored for like 2 or 3 years, suddenly it starts getting great ratings and it's the best show ever? Hardly :rolleyes:

Roseanne also got the 8 hour marathon when it premiered last year. I know the excuse with Roseanne was that there were so many episodes... but Fresh Prince only ran 6 seasons (well not "only", but it is the shortest run they have right now) while Who's The Boss and Wings didn't get 8 hour a night opening weeks.

I had forgotten about Roseanne having a 8 hour marathon thanks :)

Wow I didn't even realize FP was their only show with the shortest amount of seasons, by the time the marathon is over, they'll have shown more than half of the episodes. At the rate they are going they're gonna use up the amount of runs they are allowed per episode(I hope that makes sense).

Is it me, or is it ironic that WTB is the only show that N@N airs that has had a DVD release?

I know, Wings and WTB are getting treated horribly on N@N, I mean seriously what show is gonna get good ratings at 4 am(ie. Wings) WTB is moving to 1 and 1:30 am, which isn't too bad of a timeslot considering they moved Wings from 11 pm to like 3 am within a few weeks of putting it on at 11 pm. I guess they could have put WTB on at 3 and 3:30

I think that may have hurt the sales.
Seeing that it premiered on N@N then day before the DVD was released.

Im not saying the sales were bad.... I just think they would have sold more if N@N wasn't airing it. (For example.... I wouldve bought it on release day, if I hadnt watched the N@N marathon)

True to an extent :) There are lots of shows in syndication that have DVD releases(Three's Company, Cheers, Frasier, Friends) and it doesn't seem to hurt sales. I think to some extent it can help and hurt shows. Considering how much most networks edit out of shows, people want to see shows uncut and commercial free :)

Your watching the show the way it originally aired , not the cut up syndication prints.Another plus is that its in better quality.(I love to see & hear the whole theme song also)

I love to think that I have my own little network.I also try to look up the times & days they originally aired.So I can get that certain feel, you know ?.I like to start them at either :05 or 35.

if anything, I'd think the reverse... releasing WTB on DVD the day after it's premiere on N@N could've actually helped sales by having it on tv the week of the DVD release, so a lot of people would have an added awareness of the DVD release of the show. Almost (not quite the same but similar) to the Friends finale coming out on DVD 5 days after it aired on DVD, or even like Cheers and Frasier seasons coming out like 10 days after the Frasier series finale. Added awareness of those titles probably meant higher sales.

:nod: Yep Colombia Tri Star timed the release with the debut of the show on N@N on purpose. :)

I was never a big fan of "CSI," and I hate it more now that Spike TV has replaced "Star Trek TNG" with "CSI" reruns at 7PM.

And don't get me started about the crappy way Spike has treated "DS9!"

Maude and Sanford And Son were actually airing on TVLand
at the time and the only reason Nick-At-Nite was airing those
two shows was that during the month of October 1999 they
were doing a month-long tribute to producer Norman Lear. So
Sanford And Son and Maude were never in Nick-At-Nites long-term
plans to begin with, my friend.

Let's see, in September 1992 Cincinnati station WSTR 64 (now a WB affiliate) removed Perfect Strangers from its syndicated lineup with Night Court, making Night Court one of my least favorite shows.

Then in September 1995 Dayton station WRGT 45 (a Fox affiliate) dropped The Wonder Years from their morning syndication and replaced it with Tempest, jumping on the talk show bandwagon. Fortunately Tempest was gone within a year. Unfortunately WRGT--or any other area broadcast station, for that matter--has not aired this quality show for the last nine years.:crying:

It's the same reason I never watched it on ABC Family. It absolutely ruled on ABC and Nick At Nite, though.
