Hey everybody. This weekend I spent the night aboard the Queen Mary. Unfortunatly I didnt have an offical ghostly encounter, it was by far the most intriguing experience ever. That whole ship seems to have spirits roaming. You could almost feel it in so many areas. Remember the episode when UM put a tape recorder down in the engine or boiler room and EVP's (sounds, voices) were recorded? I walked thru there and felt a "pull" or "light tugging" in my chest, so weird. We also went to the pool which is said to be the most haunted. SPOOKY!!! Its inside, and dark with a 2 story balcony wrapping around it. I can see how there were drownings, its like 12 feet deep and NO shallow end. Stae of california shut it down 25 years ago. If ghosts and hauntings is your deal, you must go. There are also 2 places on the ship that psychics claim are vortex's and they take you there to try to feel them. It was wild! I will try to post a couple of pic's. Also, I wasnt aware of until now that the Q.M. has its own paranormal research room onboard. I went to it but naturally it was closed:(

You really should, its an amazing place. At the very least go take the tour hosted by Peter James. The pool (and ship itself) was much more spookier than even UM portrayed. I think room rates drop $$ for the season in about a week or so :D

From the time the queen mary was brought to long beach in 1968 i have been facinated with her and have learned all i could about her and other great ocean liners too as well as the titanic, in 1976 i got a job on the queen mary when they had the wax museum on board, of course the scenery around the queen did not look the same then at that time the pike or queens park was still there and the marina didnt exsist then, i have rented hotel rooms on the queen many times have seen every inch of that ship and spent many hours in her rooms hallways staircases u name it ive been there including the engine room and shaft ally where some ghosts have been reported. i worked there for 4 years and i never heard or seen a ghost and never heard anyone even mention a ghost on that ship, but even if the publicity is strictly for more buisness its still fun to imagine the queen as a haunted ship.

Flying Dutchman,

Thats awesome that you worked at the QM. I wish I lived closer to it to be a tour guide or anything onboard. I remember in the 70s as a kid we went to the Spruce Goose (next to QM) and wanting to go on the ship so bad. The atmosphere sounds very differnt nowadays than the way you describe it from years ago. The "marina" is kinda wild at night (Spring break-ish):) I wish like anything I would have had a ghostly encounter but didnt. I believe many have tho as they have many, many reports from stand-up type people. Its not that I felt spooked on board, I just felt like I had stepped back in time and could feel the past. It was great!

Yes i agree she is facinating to see and its kind of an erie feeling to walk around her decks, if you ever watch the movie gone in 60 seconds not the one with nick cage but the original one that was made in 1974 it is out on dvd and it has a great 40 minute car chase in it but the car chase starts in long beach on ocean blvd and in this 1 scene they show a helicopter going over the queen mary and you can see what it looked like back in 74 its a great shot of the queen and of the long beach shoreline back then. hope you get to go see it again if u see that scene in that movie you wont see the spruce goose dome or the submarine next to the ship also there used to be a real english boubledecker bus that u could ride back then too but thats long gone also, i think it was like 10 cents to ride to ocean blvd and the breakers building and back to the queen was alot of fun for me as we didnt have those kind of buses back then.
