CRONIN SAYS GSN WILL NOT TAKE WAGERS ON CASINO, RACING SHOWS
GSN President/CEO Rich Cronin says the network will not become its own bookie on its casino and horse racing shows but may partner with an outside company which would accept wagers.
The network has renewed "Celebrity Blackjack", its highest-rated series, for a second cycle in October.
Cronin told Broadcasting & Cable magazine regulatory restrictions prevent the network from setting up its own wagering system for viewers.
GSN, Cronin said in the magazine interview, would consider an alliance with companies which take their own parimutuel wagers via phone or online. If that develops, viewers could bet on horses in the forthcoming "American Dream Derby" series through the independent company.
In such a situation, GSN would not take bets or receive a cut of the profits from the wagers.
