blondie44 09-10-2004, 05:02 PM Me And My Girlfriends, is about five adult girlfriends who live on the same suburban block. They include: Terri Reynolds (Debra Jo Rupp), Carla Howard (Penny Marshall), Laurie Nelson (Laurie Metcalf), Kate Foster (Jean Smart), and Jane Anderson (Kathy Najimy). Jane is a wife to a hunky attorney and a mother to three rambuncious kids under 12. Kate is a single mom of a teenage daughter, Heather (Amanda Bynes). Carla is a divorced mother of a grown daughter, Rachel (Traylor Howard). Rachel lives with Carla in her house, after Rachel's dad left Carla for another woman. Laurie is a newly remarried stepmom of 15 year old fraternal twin boys, Jake and Kyle, from his previous marriage. Terri is a wife of 21 years to her recently laid-off hubby, and a mother of 17 years to her three teenage children. Terri, Laurie, Carla, Jane, and Kate have been girlfriends for the past 8 years now. They live in the same neighborhood. Jane's husband, Terri's husband, and Laurie's husband are not the biggest fans of each other, which irritates their wives. Kate is a waitress at a small diner, who is stuck at a dead-end job. Jane is a preschool teacher, who loves to work with small kids. Carla is a soon-to-be retired advertising executive, who is not looking forward to retiring anytime soon. Laurie is a real estate agent, who is looking very forward to retirement. Terri is a successful travel agent, who is trying to support her family on just her income.

The Reynolds family, the Foster family, the Nelson family, the Howard family, and the Anderson family get together for a big barbecue at the Reynolds' home. As Terri visits with Carla, Kate, Laurie, and Jane, and as the kids mingle together, Brian, Ray, and Steve awkwardly try to bond during the barbecue. Terri, Laurie, and Jane learn that Brian, Ray, and Steve aren't real fond of each other afterwhile-which makes the wives pressure their hubbies to get along.
Ep2: Celebrate It Baby:
Jane and Steve decide to celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary. Jane and Steve hire Heather Foster to babysit the Anderson children until they return from their kid-free weekend away. Heather soon learns Brady (who's 12) has a crush on her (who's 17). Meanwhile, Laurie goes out to lunch with Carla-where Carla complains about retiring soon, as Laurie wishes she was about to retire soon.
Ep3: Finding It Out The Hard Way:
Brian learns he is laid off-not by his boss, but by his co-workers. Brian is furious that his boss doesn't even have the guts to tell him face-to-face that he is laid off. Terri manages to earn an income to support a family of five. Laurie gets a visit from her out-of-state sister, Valerie (Kim Cattrall). Valerie and Ray buttheads during the visit like normal.
Ep4: Struggling:
Kate gets dumped by her current boyfriend, Mark. Kate takes the rejection hard and becomes depressed. Heather calls for back-up (Jane, Laurie, Terri, and Carla) for support to help her with her mom. Meanwhile, Jake and Kyle get detention at school for starting a fight with some other kids during lunch.
Ep5: Exes And Ohs:
Ray's ex-wife, Jenny (Amy Yasbeck) drops by to take the twins with her and her new fiancee on their planned cruise. Ray and Laurie don't think the twins will have fun on the cruise, but let Jenny take the twins anyways (They were right, they were bored on the cruise). Meanwhile, Rachel treats Carla, Kate, herself and her friends to a night of clubhopping. Carla and Kate learn they are "too old" for clubhopping with Rachel and her young friends.
Ep6: Poker Night:
Brian is hosting a men-only poker night. Terri, without consulting him, invites Ray and Steve to his poker game. After the men have a little too many beers, the three husbands are willing to bond freely with each other. Jane hosts a tupperware party at her place (as Steve is playing poker and the kids are at her parents' house). Jane invites Carla, Rachel, Terri, Alexis, Lacey, Kate, Heather, and Laurie. Carla and Rachel get into a big arguement during the tupperware party-over how Carla is too controlling to Rachel and how Rachel is too carefree and needs to straighten up.
Ep7: New Divorcee Diner:
Kate's new co-worker, Kim (Nancy McKeon) gets hired. Kim is also divorced and a single mom, like Kate. Kate and Kim get along great and decide to go out to the bars one night together. Meanwhile, Carla is insulted by her young, smart-mouthed, cocky new boss, Trevor (Breckin Meyer), after Trevor calls her "old".
Ep8: Oh, Mother:
Carla learns that her boss, Trevor is currently dating (for a couple of weeks now) Rachel (without knowing she is her daughter). Carla wants Rachel to dump Trevor, who says that Carla is just jealous of her dating someone and she's not. Carla gets hurt by that accusation. Meanwhile, Terri and Kate realize that their daughters: Alexis and Heather got fake IDs and snuck into an adult-only club. The girls get busted and sent home with a policemen by their side and forced to explain everything to their furiously upset parents.
Ep9: Camping Trip:
The Anderson family and the Nelson family plan a camping trip up north together. Jane and Laurie have a great time relaxing and chatting (as 6-year-old Tina stays by her mom's side), as Ray, Jake, Kyle, Steve, Brady, and Chris bond together by fishing, playing sports, etc. Meanwhile, Terri and Brian get into an arguement about how to handle things in their lives now: Alexis's rebellious boyfriend, Lacey's failing English class, and Emily's behavior in class.
Ep10: Find A Job, Already:
Terri pressures Brian to get out and look for another job, after Terri has come down with the flu and has to take a few days off of work (which she secretly loves, besides being sick). Meanwhile, Carla realizes she can do nothing to break off Rachel and Trevor's relationship.
Ep11: Stop, Slow Down:
Laurie and Ray are stressed out, as the twins are getting their licenses soon and hearing them talking about cars and driving (which frightens them to death). Meanwhile, Jane notices that Steve might be having a mid-life crisis, even though he denies having a mid-life crisis at age 43.
Ep12: Good Ole Pops:
Carla's widowered father, Henry (Ed Anser) pays a visit to Carla and Rachel. Henry attempts to prove to them that he is doing fine, being it has been 10 months since his wife, Shirley died of breast cancer. Carla tries to get Henry to be honest about his mental state. Henry eventually breaks down and is comforted by his daughter and granddaughter. Meanwhile, Jane, Terri, Laurie, and Kate go to the spa for a weekend getaway. The women have a great time, but feel guilty for not inviting Carla (even after knowing her dad is visiting).
Ep13: Sing Your Heart Out:
Heather gets a chance to sing at the local community house one Saturday. The five families (and others) gladly go and watch her perform. Kate is extremely proud of her daughter. Meanwhile, Alexis goes through withdrawls from not being able to use her cell phone. Terri and Brian take away her cell phone after catching her sneaking in past curfew one night.
Ep14: Valentine's Day Dates:
Steve and Jane go to a fancy restuarant for Valentine's Day. Terri and Brian go to a fancy, romantic hotel for Valentine's Day. Laurie and Ray go out dancing for Valentine's Day. Rachel and Trevor go to New York for the weekend for Valentine's Day. Kate and Carla decide to hangout together, to make Valentine's Day seem less miserable.
