MONTY: 'IT'S TOUCHED US ALL... I HAVE 2 FRIENDS MISSING'

Television and game show legend Monty hall put the terrorist attacks of last week in perspective Friday in a teleconference with media students and some faculty members at Union University: "it's touched us all."

Addressing an audience via telephone as part of Union's Broadcasting legends Series, Hall said: "If you go long enough, you find you either know somebody or know somebody who knows somebody who has lost someone. I've just found out this week I have two friends who are missing and unaccounted for. They were on the 92nd floor of the World Trade Center."

Hall talked about his feelings on the current tensions and discussed his childhood, early career setbacks, the need for young people to persevere even in the midst of roadblocks and the germination of "Let's Make a Deal". Sunday, TVgameshows.net will offer a detailed feature on Hall's exchange with the students.

The 80-year-old host/packager, asked in closing to detail his emotions in facing the days and weeks ahead, told the audience: "I'm optimistic. I've traveled all ovr America, Europe and Canada to raise money for hospitals, and various other causes, and I truly believe the vast majority of people want ot do good. Last Sunday night, I emceed a rally here in Los Angeles and it was unbelievable to see people gathered, holding out their candles, unified because they want to do something good for our country."

Hall joined the chorus in calling for patience. "This is not going to be easy, as the President told us," he said. "When you're talking about people with no regard for human life with cells in 60 different countries, this is not like anything we've ever seen before. However, if we have the resolve, we've never lost a battle we truly set out to win. If we stay united and our leadership rallies us to stay united, we will ultimately see good come out of this. After all, good is really another word for God. May God's will be done."
