I love it :D I love how they stayed true to the Joey character and didn't change him because he lives somewhere else. IMO he's still as hilarious as he was on Friends, there's a great chemistry with the cast too :D

Great cast, great set, great chemistry.
I loved it. I laughed out loud on several occassions.


Just one complaint -- get rid of the agent!! I didn't laugh at all during her entire scene. If it weren't for her, the episode would've been perfect.
I can't wait until next week!!

I have never really been comfortable with how "stupid" the Joey character is made to be. It was actually painful to watch his audition with the lights. However, Joey's speech near the end about change made up for it.

I await next week's episode and hope I can manage to find time to watch it.

Joey's gonna have a long future on tv. I think it's gonna become my other favorite show, it could possibly surpass friends as being a great show(not that friends wasn't) :)

I thought it was OK... it has potential, especially in the home scenes. However it turns out, I am not expecting Joey to be like Fraiser.

A perfect example of a spinoff pilot folks.

Great cast, and Matt is as funny as ever.

I doubt Matt LeBlanc will break Kelsey Grammar's record for most years on TV as the same character, but I think "Joey" will have a pretty good run.

My rescorder messed up, I turned to TVGuide to see what the time was on the VCR, and then thought I changed back to NBC (but it was actually the TV, not the VCR)

Anyways.... I now have 10 minutes of TVGuideChannel on tape, and no Joey pilot. :grr:

Why would it be like Fraiser? They're two completely different characters and shows :)

I think Joey could be as big as Frasier, I think it's gonna rule Thursdays for a long time to come :)

Definitely not crazy about it. But it has great potential.

I laughed out loud in some parts, but the writing was still rough. I realized Joey makes a much better supporting character. I'll still watch next week, though.

At this point, I have no idea how long it will run.

That's not the point.
Joey has more in common with Frasier than it does with Friends.

Both have basically the same concept -- guy leaves his tight-nit group of friends to reunite with his family, different city, different life.

Yeah my DVR recorded fine, but when 8:30 came it stopped recording cause it said on the channel guide "the apprentice" so naturally the DVR knows that's not the show to record, grrrrrr make me mad :mad:

True but Joey and Frasier are nothing alike, plus they didn't change Joey's whole back history when he moved to LA like the Frasier writers did to Frasier when he moved to Seattle

He lied to the people at Cheers about his father, because he was angry with him until the reunited.

Also, as both of us are fans of BMW.... continuity has nothing to do with a show being funny or not.

When I said Joey wont be like Fraiser, I was saying that I don't think Joey will be as successful spinoff as Fraiser was. Fraiser was probably the BEST spinoff ever created--- Joey has potential, but not enough to top Fraiser.

true, I wasn't knocking Frasier, and I missed that part about him being mad at his father, but that made Frasier a liar to his friends, didn't that bug anyone?

Yeah his sister was mentioned on Friends, I think at one time or another all of his sisters show up on Friends, and I think the nephew might have been just added, some posters were saying that we really didn't know much about Joey's sister, so whatever they create for her on this show, won't affect Friends :)

:nod: all of Joey's sisters appeared on Friends and this sister was played by a different actress, and I do remember Joey saying that almost all of his sister's got pregnant as teenagers.

Plus there was an episode of Friends where Chandler got drunk and slept with one of Joey's sisters but couldn't remember which one he slept with :lol:

I have to say I was very impressed. Usually you can't judge a show by its pilot because pilots 9 out of 10 times stink. However, it was a very strong first showing. Joey has alot of potential. Only a minute or so into it, I laughed out loud at him being in Dallas instead of LA. :lol:

i posted my thoughts on another thread before i saw this one so if tis ok with everyone i will post here too i thought it was pretty good the only one i didnt like was the agent she was annoying after about 30 seconds but joey is still fun to watch and the show might work one thing i found on a personal level was that as werid as it was to see joey without the other friends i found i wasnt thinking about them every miniute the show was on i was interested in what was happening to joey and his family

Well I loved it! I thought it was a good sign that I wasn't missing the other 5 right off. I had been concerned about how Joey would do on his own and I think he did great! Yeah there were a lot of boob jokes, that hopefully will not continue, but I actually laughed out loud several times! There were a lot of great lines, like Joey mentioning them having to switch churches or Michael talking about how he can't talk to the Alex without his stutter returning. And contrary to some people, I LOVED the agent. Jennifer Coolidge is a brilliant actress and is perfect in the role of his agent. She has some real potential if they take the time to flesh her out a bit more. The only character I haven't warmed up to yet is Alex. I think she has potential and I'm definitely interested to see where they go with the story, but her character did not overly impress me in the Pilot. Overall much better than I expected and I think and hope that Joey will enjoy a long and successful run.

BTW, The Ugly Naked Guy on Friends didn't die, he just moved. Ross did move into his apartment though.
Mr. Heckles was the neighbor who died, early on in the second season.

Once again you are getting carried away-LOL You don;t even know if you will like the episodes to follow. So just relax a little. I felt the same way about "Less Than Perfect" when it first premeired and i lost interest in the show.

RATINGS UPDATE ... Joey had an 11.7/20 rating, it won its timeslot, but it was down considerably from last season's Friends season premiere. It'll be interesting when Survivor starts next week. Survivor is predicted to win the 8 p.m. hour now that Friends is gone. The Apprentice season premiere was even worse last night, it was down a lot from last season's premiere. The Apprentice was second in its timeslot behind NFL on ABC (almost third in the 9pm hour, a CSI RERUN nearly beat The Apprentice). And The Apprentice went down in the ratings for each half hour, which is always not a good sign.

I am glad the Apprentice's ratings are far below what NBC expected.

REALITY and MUST SEE TV don't mesh. Maybe the craze is starting to die down?

Joey was a lot better than I expected. He always was my least favorite Friend, so I wasn't really excited about him getting his own series.

However, if I was Drea, I'd consider firing my agent. Being told at age 31 that 1. she looks older than a 36-37 year old (Matt Leblanc) and 2. she looks old enough to play the mom of an actor who is 24. I would fire that manager quickly, LOL.

The sister character really annoyed me. But I'm still keeping an open mind.

I hated the themesong. That's my biggest gripe.
Friends had such a catchy themesong that was instantly recognizable, but as for Joey -- blah. I hope they change it.

The episode was a little cringeworthy for me but I do think it has potential. Joey was always my least favorite character on Friends. He always took the reality out of it for me. No one with a working brain is that stupid unless they have a problem or something. NO ONE. But he does work in small doses though. Unless they make him a little more realistic I don't think this show SHOULD make it to surpassing Frasier. The writing was a little off too. Better than the writing of most season 10 episodes of Friends though.

I agree with all that. I know Phoebe is disliked by many too, but I think if you put the two together, she was more serious when the situation called for it. Of course, I don't think they were expecting Friends to last a decade when it premiered in 1994, so they didn't think they'd have to drag the Joey character out so far.

Solomon Less than Perfect is funny, but it's not that great of a show. :grr:

It was ok. It needs more interaction between other people, but it was just the pilot so I know it'll get better. Whether it stays on long or not, I don't think it will last 10 years. I give it a few years...5 years max. Hopefully I'm wrong because I love the character Joey, but I'm not too impressed with this show quite yet.

And about the set...the house was great...I realize he's not moved in entirely yet so that will change...but the outdoor set is horrible. You can tell it's so fake. At least at Monica's balcony on Friends it seemed like they were really outside.

I miss Friends. :(

My .02 on the premiere: Great job! I laughed out loud several times and thought Joey's "change" speach at the end was wonderful. I also thought the directing and the chemistry between the cast members were spot on. Awkward pacing and lame character interaction ruins many sitcoms. Joey will be a part of my weekly routine as long as the writing holds up to the standard of the debut.

Did anyone notice everyone was eating spaghetti while watching the feature about Male Nurses on TV? Then Matthew is feeding Joey spaghetti again in the very next scene - and Joey acts like it's the first time he's had it!
