View Full Version : Who was the best Maggie Dixie or Mary Ann SitcomFan 10-28-2001, 11:30 PM Who do you think was the best Maggie? i think dixie but they were both good but dixie. callmetootie 10-29-2001, 08:47 AM Dixie Carter is 100 times better then Mary Ann Mobly....Mary Ann had no experience being on DS, and Dixie just seemed to slide in, and be a really good actress. ------------------ Andrew Carden DarleneIllyria 10-29-2001, 04:51 PM Dixie was the better Maggie imo ------------------ Hottest Men alive: Dale Midkiff Anthony Starke Tim McGraw Jonathan Crombie Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud? Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit. Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit. Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger. [Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter] Dale Midkiff is my man! :) Class of 2002! :) Drmnd 86 10-29-2001, 06:30 PM Mary Ann Mobley is the best Maggie. DJM77 10-29-2001, 10:07 PM In my opinion Dixie Carter was the better Maggie. FOL & DS fan 4ever 10-30-2001, 01:55 AM Although I didn't particularly care for the character of "Maggie"- Dixie Carter portrayed her pretty darn good. Beruche 10-30-2001, 05:08 PM I think they were both good a "Maggie" but Dixie Carter was better. Sean Snow 10-30-2001, 09:05 PM I like them both! 1)Dixie Carter- She portrayed Maggie as a tough Southern woman. 2)Mary Ann Mobely- She portrayed a nicer mom Inner Voice of Jan Brady 10-30-2001, 09:36 PM Definitley Dixie Carter. Mary Ann Mobley was so dull. angel676 10-30-2001, 10:17 PM I think Mary Ann Mobley was the best Maggie. luvinjuan1980 11-02-2001, 10:31 PM Well at first, I did not like Dixie Carter. After watching the marathon, i changed my mind. I prefer her to Mary Ann Mobley. [This message has been edited by luvinjuan1980 (edited 11-02-2001).] SitcomFan 11-02-2001, 10:49 PM how come you didnt like Dixie Carter????????????? dixie rules RWCTV 11-03-2001, 01:13 AM I think that since Dixie Carter was the 1st, we think of her only as the trademark Maggie. Someone said earlier that Mary Ann Mobley didn't have any experience on this show, but they were wrong. Earlier in the series, Mary Ann Mobley played Arnold's teacher. The one Mr. Drummond was dating. The title of the episode was "Teacher's Pet." rserafin 11-03-2001, 10:18 AM even though i never really cared for the character of maggie, i think mary ann mobley played her better than dixie carter. mary ann seemed like a sweeter mom to sam. [This message has been edited by rserafin (edited 11-03-2001).] Curtis3331 11-03-2001, 11:17 AM I especially thought Mary Ann did a great job in Sam's Missing. Her performance was excellent. ----------------- "The Monday blues......on Tuesdaaaay." [This message has been edited by Curtis3331 (edited 11-03-2001).] SitcomFan 11-03-2001, 12:01 PM i agree RWCTV, Mary Ann had experience shes a good actress. Dixie is to willjarmon 11-04-2001, 12:48 AM I kinda of thought that Dixie Carter as Maggie was good. Now that I have seen both This is my conclusion: The way the stories went in each season fit each Maggie. Example Bullemia imagine Dixie Cater in Bullemia, then imagine Mary Ann Mobley in Drummond's Lady. You'll see the difference trust me. DarleneIllyria 11-04-2001, 11:36 AM Can I change my answer? I want to say both portrayed Maggie perfectly. Like the poster above said about Mary Anne in Bulimia, I can only imagine how Dixie's Maggie would act. Dixie's Maggie would probably yell at Kimberly like she did when Sam had the bed wetting problem. I like them both however. ------------------ Hottest Men alive: Dale Midkiff Anthony Starke Tim McGraw Jonathan Crombie Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud? They were both good at portraying Maggie even though I don't care for that character. Take care, Tanya. Mary-Ann 12-27-2001, 07:54 PM :D Dixie Carter was by far the best Maggie. Dixie Carter rox! I have met her and her family. I love Dixie Carter!!!!! :happyface ThomasE 12-28-2001, 04:20 PM Originally posted by Mary-Ann :D Dixie Carter was by far the best Maggie. Dixie Carter rox! In turn you need to be kind to the people on this board. I don't think that Dixie Carter would be pleased to know that her biggest fan has been dissin' other people on this board. I love Dixie Carter!!!!! :happyface In a earlier topic you claimed to be Dixie Carters daughter. Now you are saying that you have met Dixie Carter and her family. Which is it?!! By the way Dixie Carter was fired. She got fired from Diff'rent Strokes in the spring of 1985 and Designing Women didn't even premiere until September of 1986. vienna waits 12-29-2001, 09:54 AM I like Dixie Carter better. Natalie1969 06-02-2011, 11:21 AM I like both equally. I really agree with Sean Snow's and Willjarmon's remarks. |
