Hi,
I don't have the equipment to transfer these, but I personally had it done about 3 or 4 months ago. It cost me around 30.00 or 40.00 bucks to have a 30 minute show transferred to DVD.

Not if you really want it what is on the tapes.

Speak for yourself on that one. It really depends on how rare the material is on the tape and also whether someone will duplicate copyrighted material for you.

used in a video camera? If so, I recently transferred one I had that someone had taped of my daughter about 10yrs ago. I bought the vhs converted thing that you slide the small tape into for about $9.00. I bought it at a military exchange store, but - you can find them at Walmart or Radio Shack for pretty inexpensive. I'd offer to do it for you, but - I don't have the vhs converter thing anymore.
By the way, I would have paid $40.00 for that 10 minutes of tape, too! It would have been worth it to me for 10 minutes of footage of my little girl when she was about 18months old:happyface

3/4" tape is the tapes like used to be used in the television stations, not the ones in the video cameras. We used to have those in the tv studio when I was in high school. I dont know if they still have any or not.

The contents of the tape is completely irrelevant. It shouldn't cost that much to transfer 30 minutes of material to dvd. End of story.

I agree $40 too much for 30 minutes of video. However, the content of the video determines if it is worth the investment.
My husband wouldn't dare pay $40 to transfer 30 minutes of "baby" footage; however, I would in a "heartbeat".....
If it were 30 minutes "anything" else...then no way would either of us pay $40 to transfer it.
Therefor, yes, content of the tape is relavent...in my opinion.

I agree $40 or $30 is alot of money for a 30 minute transfer. I understand when people say they would pay it for baby footage or whatever, but the point is, they shouldnt have to.
