i watched the Marathon also noticed they did some heavy editing on the shows editing some parts out which really make me mad hate it when they do that but Marathon was great got most them taped did u see how they did the ending of Night court showing the pictures of the show instead of usual court house thay was cool.

I watched a couple hours of it. I just wish they weren't taking it off already.

I know, I am surprised they haven't picked up Night Court, it would probably be a high rated show their if they did :)

I expected N@N to eventually pick up Night Court, it seemed inevitable at one time, but now they've already skipped past the 80's & moved to 90's shows. Now it's leaving Biography & our only hope for Night Court is for it to be released on DVD - which I think WILL happen sooner or later :)

I don't get the Biography Channel, so I didn't get to see the marathon. Until the contract expires with A&E, you probably won't see a channel like Nick at Nite pick "Night Court" up. You may after that, considereing how much in demand it may be. As for a DVD, with the amount of people selling bootleg copies of "Night Court" on ebay on DVD, with great success, don't be surprised if Warner Brothers caves. I think the problem could be marketing. For example, what kind of package?, What kinds of extras?, Do you sell in seasons or in popular episodes? What kind of incentive can be offered to the former stars? I think once these questions are answered, the production process can begin. However, Warner Brothers missed the opportunity to capitalize on "Night Court's" 20th Anniversary this year. This could have been a big marketing strategy. I'd like to see what happens.

I don't know people selling bootleg copies can hurt a show coming out on DVD. Cause if people already own their bootleg copies, then why would they want to go out and buy the DVDs?

The difference between bootleg copies and legitimate DVD copies is editing. When you bid on a DVD on ebay, you don't know what kind of editied version you're getting...correction...you don't know WHICH edited version you're getting. Remember most people are selling DVDs on Ebay that are not original first run episodes. If Warner Brothers makes a DVD set, chances are that these episodes will be uneditied. They'll be shown as they were shown the first time they aired. So, depending on your taste you can bid on an editied version (Some are hacked a lot making the continuity of the show lousy!) or be patient and see if Warner Brothers puts it on DVD. Oh, also, a packaged DVD can contain extras that you can't get on Ebay copies. (Ex. outtakes, interviews, secrets of the show etc...)

Selling DVDs of the show might make Warner Bros. not want to release the show on DVD cause they'll figure people are buying it on ebay or somewhere.

Which is illegal and takes sales away from any future DVD sales Warner Bros. could make if they release the show on DVD. that's why I don't like people advertising selling the show :(

Any smart executive would realize this and make an effort to sell a better product. Using the right marketing strategy by making the product more appealing to consumers would probably eliminate the EBAY bidders. If Warners puts something out there that the EBAY sellers can't possibly offer, then sales could switch to Warners corner.

You're seeing people selling and bidding on EBAY because, right now, "Night Court" is in syndication on only one station that not everyone has and you can't see or get episodes any other way.

Sorry but I think the opposite is true, if they realize people are buying copies of the show from ebay or somewhere, then they'll figure "hmm people are buying copies or already own copies of the show on DVD, what is our incentive to release the show on DVD since most probably already own it on DVD.

The eBay guy is taking an awfully big chance. Warner is the one studio with internet watch dogs. I got suspended off eBay two years ago for selling a completely authentic Wizard of Oz script. "Even if it's an original, we don't allow sales of anything besides released dvd/video that doesn't go through us first". Luckily I was just suspended, but two guys in Arizona were tracked for four years before being pounced on for bootlegging the same movies over and over. This guy better look out.

Looking at completed auctions he's only making $20-25 bucks per 22 eps. A dvd-r holds what, 6 eps? A 10-pack of dvd-r's cost about 20 bux, if they come with cases. Plus labels and covers...don't know he's making any money.

No I did not get to watch The Labor Day Night Court Marathon but I Saw where There will be a Night Court Marathon on Monday, October 11, 2004.
