Anyone know the story surrounding her disappearance? Or how she was identified and found?

I don't know any specifics on how they found her. She had a brain anyoursm and had surgery and as a result she lost all of her memories. Her sister took care of her and she even remarried, but she would wander off many times and as result of the final time she disappeared for 33 years. She was known to be in San Diego 18 months after she had disappeared, but an aunt whose name she gave didn't look into it and she disappeared again. I did see her on the doenetwork websight there was a megshot of her taken in 1977 in Seattle, but I don't know any specifics. Then today when I logged on to the doenetwork the updates said she had been found alive and safe in San FRAnCISCO in August of this year. SO I faxed a letter to the people who run the doenetwork in hopes of getting more information about how she was found and also suggested that they get in contact with Unsolved Mysteries about doing an update on this story because in my opinion it is truly a miracle!!!

It really is a miracle. How unbelievable!!!! Its amazing to think she wandered all those years w/o anyone noticing her, or recognizing her. I guess thats how criminals can be on the run for so long. Im happy shes been found alive. How wonderful for her family!!

I looked around online for more information about the story. My search lead me to contact information for Pat's sister, so I wrote to her (which is something out of character for me but I felt a need to do it anyway). Her response was very cheerful and she is very happy that Pat has been found. She didn't include any personal information about why Pat was gone as long as she was, but I did learn that her second husband (Troy Carlton) is now deceased. Just a little update for anyone who is interested.

Aww, that's too bad that her second husband died. Even though he remarried after Patricia dissapeared, he really wanted to find her and looked very sad that she had been gone all of these years during the segment. Too bad he couldn't see her one last time before he passed away.

But again, thank goodness she has been found.

I just watched this segment and thought that there was little hope of ever finding Patricia again. I am pleasantly surprised to see this update. The only sad part is that her second husband never got to see her again before his death as I felt quite badly for him in the segment.

Just in case anyone is still interested. On the Doe Network site she's listed
as "Patricia Ann Teer Snyder".

So, it's only 3 years or so after the original post!

Only saw this for the first time today, glad she was found and wasn't expecting her to be.

I was shocked to see this, due to her condition. It was sad that she was located after her second husband died though.

Not sure if anybody knows this or not, but on a sad side note, Pat's sister Mary (interviewed in the segment) died in September 2005, just over a year after at last being reunited with her long-missing sister.

So nice to read a happy ending for once! Although it's sad she lost so many years with loved ones she can never get back. Thankful she has finally be found!

Did she create a new life for herself in California? Was she homeless, or living in a shelter? Did she have someone who loved her & she loved in return? Friends?

Motive?
She had a documented history of brain injury, wandering and amnesia.
This bout just lasted longer than the others.

Her husband was one of my favorites on UM. He remarried but he still cared about her well being and even had his wife's blessing to look for her. One of the few spouses on UM who was likeable

I am Troy's step daughter. He raised me from age 3. My dad was a wonderful man and I was his little girl. I grew up to be a tomboy, lol. My dad died in 99 of cancer. I took care of him until he passed and I know he would be happy to know Patricia was safe. God brought him into our lives for a reason. My mom now lives next to me, and she knew my dad could not find peace without trying to find Patricia. He raised 2 step kids and a son with my mom. My dad was the type of person who picked up a homeless man off the street, hired him, gave him a place to sleep and prepared him for a stable life.

It's been said already, but we cannot thank you enough for your comments. I absolutely echo the sentiments made about your stepfather.

Troy was a gentleman in the true sense of the word. Not sure if it has been discussed but does anyone know what led to her 1977 arrest and what happened to her in that period? Sounds as if she always seemed to be in California.

Does anyone know how she's doing? This segment always stuck with me.

I just watched the segment and I was thinking the same thing. What a piece of garbage.

I remember this. The visual of a disheveled Patricia wandering aimlessly down a street stuck with me. The other memory from that segment is Robert Stack saying, with great compassion, "If you are watching, Patricia, no one was hurt. Your family and friends just want you to come home."
