Who else thinks this is a really funny episode? It is sure one of the "top ten" in my opinion!

Is that the one where Beaver plays all the pranks or are you referring to a different ep?

No this is the one where his old friend David Manning invites Beaver to the party and then Beaver forgets about it, and ends up giving David his new camera.

Oh Ok I remember that one. It was a good ep but not one of my favorites. That David Manning kid was annoying.
One thing that bothered me about that ep was why the kids mom just didn't send out an invitation to Beaver instead of having her son call and invite him. Wasn't that how they did things back then? Even today kids still get invitations to parties. That way there are no misunderstandings.

Yes that would have avoided a lot of problems!

Yes, it would have solved alot but then what would have been the plot of the story?

It was a rather touching episode with Beaver being so thoughtful in the end and his parents having underestimated his thoughtfulness. Usually Beaver justs messes up but doesn't get to do something special like that in order to make up for it.

I guess there wouldn't have been a plot. I just thought it was unrealistic for the kid to invite Beaver to the party instead of his mom calling and talking to June or just sending an invitation to the house. In todays world with both parents working and having such busy schedules I could see a mixup like that happening but in the 50's when things were done more formally it seemed unlikely to me that something like that would happen.

Possibly the viewers are supposed to get the idea that David's mother did send out invitations, but that he kept pestering her to let his old friend, Beaver, come, so she finally relented and let him call Beaver after the invitations had gone out.

How many of you thought it was really lame of June to buy that inflatable toy for the birthday gift? Even on a moment's notice there had to be something besides that to buy. Just a birthday card with a couple of bucks in it would have been better thatn that.

Yes and her "lame" excuse of not having any time! She would have had the same amount of time to get something else!!

Yes, June having bought that stupid toy was lame, and YES, her excuse was terribly lame also. But, amazingly, moms and dads do stuff like that. They do dumb things and then they make lame excuses for having done them.

If you think about it, that was the whole premise of the episode. Beaver and Wally knew what they were doing. June and Ward were too far removed from having been kids that they had forgotten the simple lessons that they'd learned as kids.

Fortunately, in the end, they did listen to their kids, and they learned yet another lesson from them.

My 2 favorite episodes are...

1)Where Benji thinks Beaver has been turned into a rock.

2)The Haircut.

i also think that june buying that toy was stupid she usally was alot smarter and even if she was in a hurry that excuse about having to take the first thing she saw was lame she culd have went to the toy department and asked someone for help it wouldnt hav taken any more time then it did for her to buy a bathtub toy
