I'd looked it up on the General Sitcoms board that according to Pav that ABC-1 will launch in the UK, September 27th as a digital cable channel on the Freeview system. They have shows like "Sports Night", "8 Simple Rules", "Once and Again" and guess what's coming to ABC-1, the return of "Moonlighting". For more information on what's coming to ABC-1 go to this website www.abc1.com for the start date (won't start this site until September 27th). For those of you are living in the London area, it's your bet. ABC-1 is going to be commercial free and shows will air unedited.

This sounds exciting.... but that link you posted returns a page cannot be displayed for me. Maybe the site is down temporarily. I will check back again later and see if it is working.

Thanks for the heads up. I would like to find out more about this...and will post the news on my ML fansite.

What is ABC-1?
Is it a channel in Europe?

If so, Moonlighting will start up again when Cybill is singing in London.

It's a channel in Britain as I understand it, in London they can receive it.
And what a coincidence that ML starts when Cyb arrives in London.
Funny:D

Apparently Moonlighting will be on at 1505 as this will be a daytime channel only to start with and it will be on Freeview - I'd better investigate getting connected!
See a schedule at http://www.digilook.net/launch_schedule.htm

I want to move to London.

I would get to hear Cybill sing, and I would get to re-tape Moonlighting if the DVDs fall through.

BUT the best reason to move to London -- I might have a chance to meet Tazmania and Stephanie.

Hurrah!!!!!!! I'm so excited, especially seeing the DVD will probably take years to get sorted out!!!

For those in the UK, you'll need to have Freeview Digital to get this channel I believe...

Roll on 27th September! All I need to do now is to work out how to video from digital....hmmm.... :D

I can't believe that US TV hasn't worked out that there is a huge fan base out there who would kill to get to watch this prog, especially as the people behind the UK screenings are ABC!!!??

I'm so happy tho!

Agh, why do TV set ups have to be so complicated?!

I can see the ABC1 trailer (with lots of Moonlighting clips) but I can't get the video to recognise the digital box  :(

I need to tape this as its on in the daytime when I am at work.

Tamm, I've been told that to be able to record things from the digital box, you need to have a scart lead from the digital box, then one to the video and then one to the TV. That's what I'm hoping will help me video Moonlighting when it starts -- NEXT WEEK!!!!

If it works, I'll let y'all know..

Mul

Tamm
09-22-2004, 02:07 PM
Still trying Mul. I just can't get my video to recognise the scart connection. Not sure if I am technically stupid or there is something wrong with the video. I have been given a few hints which I'll try out later. Fingers crossed

Tamm
09-23-2004, 04:11 AM
Mul, disaster. On closer reading of the instructions to my video I can't timer record from digital through a scart cable only simple record ie press record when the programme starts. So Moonlighting at the weekends only then :crying:

I hope that you are having more luck

Dutchie

Tamm
09-23-2004, 09:05 AM
Thank you.

On the positive side it will still be more Moonlighting than I was seeing before :) I just hope it is on at the weekend, the trailer only gives the weekday time

MulberryGal
09-23-2004, 10:48 AM
Aah no. Bad luck Tamm, how annoying. :( I'm starting to get slightly panicky about my chances of videoing it. I'm sure the advert said Weekdays at 3:05pm. I will try to do something videoing at the weekend and see if anything works...

Mul, its 3.05 weekdays and I think 3.55 weekends. Good luck with the taping if you have better quality equipment than me you might be OK

I have a half day Tuesday and am looking forward to wathcing it then. I hope they start at the beginning and then it will be an episode I haven't seen

MulberryGal

I'm starting to think it's impossible!!!

I've even tried setting up the channels on my video and it doesn't seem to realise that there are any digital channels at all. Not sure what to do, except beg my brother to see if he can do it on his video!

Otherwise, like Tamm, I'll just be a weekend viewer....

Aaargh!

Ya know what's weird...If they won't show the Pilot as first episode in England (and if I AM going to watch it) It's going to be Lady in the Iron Mask AGAIN!!! What is it with me and this episode:confused: :D

Tamm

Mul, did you get your video to work? I am looking forward to tomorrow afternoon when I finish work early and will be home in time to watch. Yippee :D

MulberryGal
09-28-2004, 03:36 AM
Not so far Tamm, still rather confused about why it isn't working. According to my brother, he's able to video from digital channels... I think I'll get him to help!

Hope you have a great afternoon off with Moonlighting Tamm! Let me know what episode they're showing!

Mul

Tamm
09-28-2004, 11:19 AM
Today it was Read the Mind .. See the Movie. So they must have missed the pilot. Unfortunately that takes us to Lady in the Iron Mask at the weekend which is an episode I have seen many times. I want new (to me) episodes to watch

MulberryGal
09-28-2004, 11:47 AM
Typical isn't it? The ones for this weekend are both ones I have on video already!!

The next time there's an episode that I've not seen will be when they show Portrait of Maddie, which if it works out, will be on Saturday 9th October...

I'm still pinning hopes on my brother helping out tho...fingers crossed...

Tamm
10-02-2004, 09:50 AM
Hurrah, it was Gunfight at the So So Corral today, they must be showing from episode 1 at the weekends too so all of us people who are out at work won't miss any episodes after all.
:D

CindyK

So it sounds like they are airing them in order starting with episode 1 on the weekdays and then on the weekends they are showing another cycle in order starting with episode one this past weekend and then will do episode two the next weekend and so on?

That is smart....so that everyone has an opportunity to see them all no matter if they work M-F or not.

Tamm
10-03-2004, 11:17 AM
2 episodes each weekend.

yes it is smart and since I still haven't managed to tune my video to the digital channels its made me happy :happyface

kismet
10-03-2004, 12:55 PM
Tamm, you are so lucky that you get a chance to tape the episodes. Who knows when/if we will get them on DVDs now!

I wish I had the opportunity to re-tape them - mine are in such bad shape.

Tamm
10-03-2004, 04:06 PM
Kismet, if only I could tape them. My video refuses to work through the scart connection which it has to do to tape from digital.
:(
but I am still excited at watching these early episodes for the first time:D

kismet
10-03-2004, 05:53 PM
That's a shame that you can't tape them. At least you get to view them again! Is there any way to figure it out so you can tape them?

Tamm!! I managed to video an ep of ML on Saturday!!!!

I turned to Ch 15, then set up my video to video on channel AV. This will pick up whatever digital channel you are currently watching. Of course, it doesn't help if anyone turns over or goes back to normal TV (it goes blank). But if you are watching the eps at the weekends, like me, you can then video them and keep them!!!

It's not ideal, but it works!!!!

It would seem that abc 1 are NOT showing the episodes in original transmission order! For example, "In God We Strongly Suspect" was aired on October 20 (Episode 19 in running order). This was followed by the next two in order ("Every Daughter's Father..." and "Witness for the Execution") but on 23 October they aired "The Lady in the Iron Mask" (episode 8 in running order).

I suspect that the episodes ARE being shown in an edited format as I have several episodes recorded on VHS from when they were shown originally on BBC 2 during the early 1990s and I was able to record five episodes onto a four hour video tape - each episode running for 48 minutes. The current transmissions on abc 1 run for 43 minutes (or therabouts). The scheduled time slot (on weekdays) is from 10.35 - 11.25 and again from 3.05 - 3.55. That's 50 minutes in total - and there are three breaks in the transmission for abc trailer ads! So no way can they last for the full 48 minutes!!

Cheers!

It is VERY easy to record digital programmes using an integrated television with Freeview incorporated! Just click on the channel programme guide and select programme from the list to record and press Red button on handset and recording will automatically begin at appropriate time (as long as VCR is connected to the TV with Scart lead!).

VERY annoying that the Radio Times listings for abc 1 programmes gives 2.00 pm as the start time for the week-end airings! I had manually set my VCR for last Saturday's programme only to find that it started at 1.55 pm! Won't make that mistake again!

Cheers!

Just thought I'd add a note. ABC1 ARE indeed running Moonlighting episodes in order. However they are running them in order on weekdays, so you'd get:

Monday: Gunfight at the So-So Corral
Tuesday: Read the Mind ... See the Movie
Wednesday: The Next Murder You Hear
Thursday: Next Stop Murder
Friday: The Murder's in the Mail

But they are them also running them separately on Saturdays and Sundays running in order

Saturday: Gunfight at the So-So Corral
Sunday: Read the Mind ... See the Movie
Satuday: The Next Murder You Hear
Sunday: Next Stop Murder

etc etc.

Thanks to Tamm, who pointed this out to me!!!!

Thanks for the advice on videoing from freeview spankboy!

Does this mean that you can video one freeview channel whilst watching another?

I'd appreciate any advice on this, as I'm annoying the hell out of my family by having to keep freeview on channel 15 so that I can video Moonlighting!

Unfortunately my video doesn't seem to like the scart connection. I have tried and tried and it looks like its recording but then when you play back all thats there is fuzzyness

I've tried to record ABC1 but it doesn't work, not even if I'm actually watching the channel at the time :(

It LOOKS like it's recording but it's not, when I play it back it's just a blue screen. Which, despite being fascinating, is not really what I wanted to see!

I'm bumping a lot of old posts up to the top here, aren't I?! Sorry about that, I just see an old post and I want to give my opinion on what's been said in it so I do! :D
