Something that has been bothering me for a while is the true relation between Tony and Christopher. I know Tony always refers to him as his "nephew," but that can't be exactly true since in order to be his nephew, he would have to be the son of one of his sisters, either Janice or Barbara. And in one first season episode, Christopher refers to Carmela as his cousin....so is he related to the family on her side? Does anyone know the truth behind this?

Christopher is the son of Carmela's cousin.

I'm not too sure, I think it was last season where they explained it.

I remember that, that FBI agent Robin asked Adriana how Christopher and Tony were related in an episode from the last season.
From what I could figure out: Joanne Blundetto, Tony's cousin, married Dickie Moltisanti who was Carmela's cousin and they had Christopher who would be a cousin to Tony and Carmela.

Yes, I remember Adriana explaining it in one episode and she said something like "Christopher isn't really Tony's nephew, he's Carmella's cousin" or something ike that. But then in this past season, in one of the later episodes when they are up on the farm trying to find the bodies, Christopher is talking about he and Tony S. and Tony B. as "cousins" going up to the farm when they were children. That confused me when they started talking about that.
