Shocker! Aleksander Out!

A GUIDING LIGHT rep confirms for Soaps In Depth that, due to "storyline-dictated" reasons, Grant Aleksander has been let go from his role of Phillip. This corroborates reports from several setsiders that the actor was notified of his release on August 27.

Aleksander's sudden ouster comes as a surprise as he has been with GL, off and on, since 1982, and has figured into frontburner plots for the past several years. At this time, a final air date has not been made available.

In a way this is a surprise to me and in a way it isn't. I knew something was up though because recently they've been making Phillip more and more of a villain. He's been starting to remind me of Grant Aleksander's no-good "All My Children" character Alec McIntyre. I hope AMC doesn't see Aleksander's departure from GL as a chance to bring him back to AMC. I didn't like him at all on AMC lol I don't think it would work anyway since Hayley & her mother are both gone from the canvas. However, Adam is still around as well as Tom Cudahy (at least occasionally) - they both had interaction with Alec.

Considering the state of ABC Daytime I so hope he doesn't go to ABC, especially with Brian Fronzerelli at the helm :mad: :rolleyes:

I always liked him. He left once before and came back. In soap operas you are never gone forever.

I hate, loathe and despise Brian Frons! He took so many characters OFF ABC including my favorites, Fiona Hutchison (Gabrielle Medina), James DePaiva[/B](Max Holden)... He allowed Michael Malone to kill Al, thus losing ties between the HOLDEN family - my only reason for watching ONE LIFE TO LIVE! Then they brought Al Holden back as Michael McBain:mad:

Grant Alexander is a very good actor - I'm just not liking Philip like I used to...GL needs Jenna Bradshaw Cooper back - COOP's (Henry Cooper Bradshaw) mommy!!!

All the above of what you said, plus my gut is telling me that he's the one who wants to combine All My Children and One Life to Live into one soap, which would never work :rolleyes:

Frons is reponsible for the crappy state GH is in, they should rename GH the mobster hour or the Sonny Corinthos hour

You are not alone - there are thousands of fans out there that would love for OLD BALD Frons to get the BOOT! He lied about so many things regarding different shows! Ratings have gone down for ABC but they're too blind to realize that they've makes numerous and heartless mistakes! :mad:
