What do you think about me selling books? Like Eric Jerome Dickey and Omar Tyree? African American books? I know a lot of people who are interested in reading African-American books, and they will not have that excuse, "I don't have a tape player,(The reason my tape selling went out of business), and I can get money out of it. I only made about 25 dollars after trying to sell lots of cassettes. Now I am stuck with about 22 tapes. The reason I have so many tapes is because I get them cheap at thrift stores, and then jack up the prices to 5.00 and I have to BEG people to buy it from me. People were begiining to wonder about me and I ended up looking desperate. I decided to stop buying casettes purely for profit and go into books, chaep from Thrift Stores and jack up the prices, because lots of people read books. Lots of people don't listen to cassettes. I can't even find a store that will buy my tapes. So I am hoping to make some money with the books. I have a book called Uncle Tom's Cabin. How much money do you think I will get for that? Do you think anyone will want to buy it from me?

o_O $5 for a cassette. I sold a CD on ebay once for a quarter. I got 1 bid. Now I wonder why no one bought the cassettes...

Only time I've heard Clay here was at a restaurant. And that's not regular radio! I think the only Kelly song I've heard is Miss Independent. Unless it was one I didn't know, because the DJs here don't like to tell you who they just played. :mad:

Oh...I heard Kim Locke once. Just once. Of course I wanted to hear the song again...and it never came back...

We get Kelly Clarkson and Kimberly Locke alot here....I really like Kim's new song "Wrong" and Kelly's "Breakaway"....but we don't hear anyone else because they don't release songs very often...When Clay had "Invisible" out it was really overplayed, but he hasn't had a song out in a long time so why should he be getting airplay?

top 40 radio here still plays Christina a lot, even tho her last single was fall of last year.

I listen to as little radio as possible, top 40 radio SUCKS, classic rock stations play the same 5 bands, the 80's station always plays the same 10 songs, the soft rock station always plays the same Celine Dion songs, etc... I just listen to cd's in the car 95% of the time, tho sometimes I'm forced to hear the radio if in a friends car or something

The Way came out in February or so, and Solitaire was the B-side track to the single, but it wound up being the A-side. This past July I Will Carry You became his other single. 96.1 loves Clay Aiken, and he is the most requested artist on the station, but of course it comes in like crack all the way up here so I dont bother.

As for Kelly, I heard her songs a lot. Miss Independent was a HUGE hit for her, and it was played a lot. So was Low. Breakaway is another big hit for her. The only one that I didnt hear to often was The Trouble With Love. I hear A Moment Like This a lot too on the soft rock stations.

Oh my god. You sold it for a quarter? You could have gone to your local Music Store and gotten at least a dollar for it.:)

it's so embarassing to look back and see how obsessed with cassettes everyone was in the 1980's. Back at the time, CD's were more expensive and only "elite" people had players, and at the same time, vinyl records were on their way out, so for a time, roughly 1985-1990... cassettes ruled the world, starting in the early 90's, cd's became more and more prominent and by 93-94, everyone was buying cd's over tapes. But I mean, what was so special about tapes now when you think about it?

That back then most people couldn't afford CD's and there was real music out there that it was worth buying on tape anyways. I have a big collection of tapes from single latin artists and still listen to it every now and then
