Looking forward to Alf's Hit Talk Show returning! Kind of disappointed Carol/Flip/Addams come October will only be on Sundays...

I'm glad they downplayed TC a bit. I'm happy with where it will be in October.

AITF must be getting some good ratings in its current slot. I never thought it and S&S would ever see the light of day again!

Carol and Flip are being treated like garbage. The way I see it, they should put them both for an hour block on weekday afternoons (pre-primetime), with three episodes of each on Saturday nights, back to back.

I'm glad they are showing their original programs again. I really like watching ET in TVLand and Inside TVLand.

I just wish they'd get some new shows, some that haven't been around much lately. Why not get some "That Girl" or "Alice" or "Falcon Crest"?

They kept Family Ties on Thursdays and Wings on Fridays for mini-marathons.... I'm happy.

ALF's Hit Talk Show, very nice. I hope Ed McMahon stays around!!

My only complaint is the treatment of Flip Wilson and Carol Burnett. As JT suggested, Saturday nights would be perfect for them.

Although, I'd have it like this....
8:00PM Flip Wilson
8:30PM Flip Wilson
9:00PM Flip Wilson
9:30PM Flip Wilson
10:00PM The Carol Burnett Show
10:30PM The Carol Burnett Show
11:00PM The Carol Burnett Show
11:30PM The Carol Burnett Show

With no airings on weekdays, I prefer marathons anyways.

I think both shows didn't do too well, when they were airing a lot. Carol Burnett's launch weekend did good, though, but after that it never did too well. I don't think Flip did well at all, not even during the launch weekend.

Once again proving that in the world of syndication, sitcom is king.

I thought that maybe TV Land,(although I don't have it yet), had something going in bringing back the shows they started off with in 1996 with The Addams Family,The Flip Wilson Show, and Green Acres. The way it looks,it seems that Green Acres is doing better than either The Addams Family and Flip Wilson combined.

I am kind of surprised about The Carol Burnett Show not doing good at all. I thought maybe it would do better for TV Land. Guess it just wasn't meant to be.

I am kind of surprised of someone saying that Three's Company is overplayed. TV Land is now the only station besides local stations that carries it. I thought someone also said that it was underplayed at one time. Well,at least we have the DVD's to fall back on.

TV LAND & NICK AT NITE'S FAMILY TABLE PARTNERS WITH THE NATIONAL CENTER ON ADDICTION AND SUBSTANCE (CASA)

AT COLUMBIA

UNIVERSITY TO CELEBRATE FAMILY DAY ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

Classic TV Headquarters to Close Early to Support Initiative

Santa Monica, CA, September 23, 2004 -TV Land and Nick at Nite's Family Table: Share More Than Meals -- Classic TV's very first pro-social initiative - has teamed up with The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University to celebrate Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children on Monday, September 27th. TV Land and Nick at Nite will support the initiative by showcasing a specially-created National Family Day commercial - airing throughout this weekend - and will underline the importance of family togetherness via a link to CASA's website on TVLand.com. Nick at Nite and TV Land will take the additional step of closing the network's offices early on Monday to allow employees enough time to go home and share more than meals.

CASA's National Family Day, which was created in 2001, is an effort designed to heighten awareness of the benefits that come from families dining together regularly. CASA studies have shown that the more often children eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink and use illegal drugs.

TV Land & Nick at Nite's Family Table: Share More Than Meals was created by the two networks in 2003 and also seeks to remind its viewers about the emotional and social benefits that come from taking the time to sit down and share with one another. Through a series of promotional spots - which both networks air in regular rotation daily - TV Land and Nick at Nite have committed over $11 million in on-air time annually to encourage viewers to experience the benefits of dining together.

"TV Land and Nick at Nite's Family Table is honored to support CASA in their efforts to make Family Day a priority for everyone," explains Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land & Nick at Nite. "I think we all can relate to the barriers that keep us away from the dinner table, whether it's working late, travel, soccer practice, you name it. At TV Land and Nick at Nite we face those challenges too, but by closing our offices early on Family Day, we hope to send a message and start a trend that families need to come first. We would encourage other employers to allow their staffs to leave work in time on Monday to get home and share more than meals."

"We are so fortunate and honored to have the support of TV Land and Nick at Nite for Family Day," said Joseph A. Califano, Jr., CASA Chairman and President and former U.S. Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare. "The Family Table and Family Day both promote parental engagement in children's lives. We believe that the most effective way to keep the problem of substance abuse out of courtrooms and hospital emergency rooms is to tackle it in America's dining rooms and living rooms."

TV LAND JOINS THE POLITICAL FRAY WHEN NETWORK PRESENTS

INSIDE TV LAND: PRIME TIME POLITICS

Rob Reiner, Lily Tomlin, Norman Lear, George Schlatter, Diane English, Bea Arthur, George Stephanopoulos, Howard Dean, Stephen Colbert and Others

Discuss Politics as Seen on Television in One-Hour Special

Santa Monica, CA, October 5, 2004 - From The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour to Murphy Brown to The Daily Show, politics has always made for great television entertainment. TV Land takes a close look at the political landscape as seen through the lens of primetime television with an original, one-hour special, Inside TV Land: Primetime Politics, premiering on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Narrated by Barry Bostwick (Spin City), notables Rob Reiner, Diane English, Lily Tomlin, Bea Arthur, George Stephanopoulos, Howard Dean, Tom Smothers and others are featured in interviews and discuss the impact presidents, wars, social movements and politics in general have had on television. Inside TV Land: Primetime Politics is produced exclusively for TV Land by Linda Ellerbee's Lucky Duck Productions.

"It's remarkable to see how far the boundaries have stretched over the last forty years when it comes to how politics is played out on television," states Sal Maniaci, President, Development and Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "From Nixon saying 'Sock it to me' on Laugh-In to The Daily Show's comedic and satirical view on the news, politics has certainly made for some of the most memorable moments in TV history."

TV Land begins this 60-minute journey with a look at how it all began when the light-hearted variety show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour decided to take on the current events and the Vietnam War, and Tommy Smothers rallied to bring the troops home. From that moment on, the political landscape continued to evolve with shows like Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, which reflected the hippie counterculture of the late '60s to NBC's portrayal of the president on The West Wing. This original special examines how television began to blur the line between politics and entertainment, encouraged people's interest in politics and humanized those in public office.

Among the watershed television shows which changed the political landscape on television discussed in the special include:

* Comedian Pat Paulsen announces on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour that he is running for President, shaking up the election.

* All in the Family - Norman Lear changes the face of TV by pitting the conservative, bigoted character of Archie Bunker up against his liberal son-in-law, Mike Stivic.

* National issues become sitcom fodder as the series Maude, starring Bea Arthur, pushes political buttons and boundaries with a storyline about abortion.

* M*A*S*H* premieres in 1972 and tackles the war, focusing on the doctors and nurses whose jobs are to heal the soldiers. It helps to express the public's opinion on the Vietnam War.

* The character of Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties reflects the values of President Reagan and appeals to a new generation of Republicans.

* In an unusual guest appearance in 1983, First Lady Nancy Reagan promotes her Anti-Drug campaign on Diff'rent Strokes, turning "Just Say No" into a national catch-phrase.

* The Simpsons takes political shots at both liberals and conservatives over the years.

* Spin City takes a comedic look at how the staff of a New York City mayor's office tries to spin the truth about the mayor to the media. The leader character, portrayed by Michael J. Fox, is modeled after George Stephanopoulos, President Clinton's former adviser.

* Murphy Brown has a baby out of wedlock on the popular comedy, and Vice President Quayle creates a controversy when he criticizes the fictional character of glamorizing single motherhood. Diane English, the show's creator, responds by turning the controversy into another storyline.

* Bill Clinton plays the saxophone on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1992.

* The premiere of The Daily Show in 1996 becomes the main source of news for millions of viewers under the age of 25 as it gets its inspiration from real news and politics. Political candidates John Edwards, Howard Dean and John Kerry all appear on the show in hopes of increasing voter turnout.

* The NBC hit drama The West Wing depicts the life of a president during his term in office.

Inside TV Land: Primetime Politics features new interviews with creators, actors, politicians, television executives and others who discuss TV's role in politics. Among those included are Bea Arthur (Maude), Congresswoman Mary Bono, Stephen Colbert (The Daily Show), Howard Dean, Diane English (Murphy Brown), Robert Guillaume (Benson), Rob Reiner (All in the Family), George Schlatter (Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In), Tom Shales, Live From New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live, Harry Shearer (The Simpsons), Tom Smothers (The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour), George Stephanopoulos and Lily Tomlin (Laugh-In, Murphy Brown and The West Wing).

Lucky Duck Productions is an award-winning and critically acclaimed television production company renowned for producing primetime specials, documentaries, limited-run series and children's programming for network and cable television. The company is owned and operated by journalist, producer and author, Linda Ellerbee and Rolfe Tessem.

TV Land Productions was created in 2003 to develop original programming that complements the network's successful acquired programming slate. TV Land Productions has also produced The TV Land Awards Show: A Celebration of Classic TV (March 2003 and 2004) and the Emmy-nominated The Dick Van Dyke Show, Revisited, the network's first original special for broadcast, which premiered on CBS in May. In the final Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Johnny thanks a bunch of people, his family, friends, Ed, Doc, and just as importantly -- VP Quayle, for making Johnny's last week one of his funniest ever.
(the whole controversy must have occured around this time)

Later in the monolouge, Johnny says something along the lines of "I've decided not to retire. Next fall I will be joing the cast of Murphy Brown playing the surrogate father of that child."

TV LAND TO PRESENT RECENTLY UNEARTHED LOST EPISODE OF

THE HONEYMOONERS 50 YEARS TO THE MINUTE OF

ITS ORIGINAL AIRING

Network to Air Episode on October 16, 2004 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

New York, NY, October 13, 2004 - In a historic television event 50 years to the minute of its original airing, TV Land will present a new "lost" episode of the classic 1950s comedy The Honeymooners entitled "Love Letter" on October 16, 2004 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Uncovered in the Peabody Awards Archive at the University of Georgia, this "lost" episode originally aired on October 16, 1954 on The Jackie Gleason Show.

"Love Letter" deals with Ralph Kramden's (Jackie Gleason) discovery of a love letter that he mistakenly believes is meant for his wife Alice (Audrey Meadows). The episode was uncovered in the Peabody Awards archive at the University of Georgia. It was discovered during a preservation review of the archives' kinescopes and videotapes. Although it was re-made so that it could be part of the "Classic 39," this particular episode was presumed "lost" and is the only known copy which exists from The Jackie Gleason Show.

"By presenting this episode of The Honeymooners, which hasn't been seen in 50 years, TV Land continues to deliver its promise to bring the best and rarest of television to our viewers," states Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "This is an exceptional moment in TV history and TV Land is thrilled that we can share this historic episode with our viewers."

The Honeymooners - which began as a segment on Dumont's Cavalcade of Stars -- elicited such an enormous response from viewers that it became a regular feature and eventually received an entire half-hour time slot on CBS, becoming one of TV's all-time classic comedies. The Honeymooners ranked #2 from 1954-55, garnered Emmy Awards for Audrey Meadows (Supporting Actress in a Regular Series in 1954) and Art Carney (Best Supporting Actor from 1953-55 plus Special Classification of Individual Achievement for The Jackie Gleason Show 1966-67 and 1967-78).

The series revolves around Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason), a frustrated New York bus driver with a big mouth and a tiny Brooklyn apartment he shares with his wife, Alice (Audrey Meadows). Living upstairs from the Kramdens are their best friends, the Nortons. Ed (Art Carney) -- who everyone including his wife, Trixie (Joyce Randolph) calls Norton -- is a sewer worker for the Department of Sanitation and is often working on get-rich-quick schemes with Ralph.

TV LAND TAKES A TOUR OF THE WHITE HOUSE WITH

MRS. JOHN F. KENNEDY WHEN NETWORK REBROADCASTS SPECIAL ON OCTOBER 27 AT 11 P.M. ET/PT

One-Hour Special to Air Following the Premiere of

Inside TV Land: Primetime Politics

New York, NY, October 19, 2004 - As Americans prepare to vote on who will reside at the most notable address in the country, TV Land has elected to rebroadcast the historic A Tour of the White House with Mrs. John F. Kennedy on Wednesday, October 27 at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The special, which originally aired on CBS on February 14, 1962, features the former First Lady as she gives CBS News Correspondent Charles Collingwood an extensive tour of the mansion. The telecast will air immediately following the premiere the one-hour original special, Inside TV Land: Primetime Politics.

"TV Land is thrilled to be able to present our viewers with this rare opportunity to watch this notable event in American history," explains Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "This special presentation truly fulfills TV Land's promise to preserve great programming and to share it with our audience."

A Tour of The White House was the most extensive tour of the Presidential mansion ever presented to the public. It was also the first televised tour of The White House since 1952, when President Harry S. Truman showed the American television audience the result of a renovation of the executive mansion. Throughout the program, the First Lady takes viewers on a personally-conducted tour of the public rooms of The White House, pointing out the changes she has made in their refurnishing and the objects of historical and artistic interest which have made The White House a national museum. Mrs. Kennedy proudly displays the historic rooms of the second floor including the Lincoln Room and the Monroe Room, which had never been seen on television or film. The telecast includes an introduction to the special by veteran journalist and longtime 60 Minutes correspondent Ed Bradley from the CBS rebroadcast.
