When people say "get a life", or "you have no life".... what exactly does that mean anyways?!

Good question.. when I say I have no life, I mean that I have absolutely no social life whatsoever.. I'm always at home, reading or watching TV, or just being bored.

Get out and...do things? People need to **** themselves. It's not possible for everyone, or hey...here's a thought...maybe not everyone's idea of a life is going out, ****ing and partying :roller:

I don't like parties. I don't drink. Bars suck because I don't smoke and the drunks are obnoxious. I'm not a social butterfly nor do I want to be. I'm content sitting here and talking to my friends. So if that means I have no life, then I never will. I'm happy.

You have a life if you think you're doing something useful.
If you think useful means making sure the entire internet community knows that last week's episode of your favorite show was the
WORST
EPISODE
EVER,
then you have a life.

Oh, and just because you like sitting on yer arse and watching the "idiot box" does not mean you don't have a life. Pretty much everyone has a TV. Even people with "lives" have TVs.

That's a very broad term really. It can mean different things to different people I guess :)

I know alot of people who think just because I watch soap operas I have "no life"

Me I'm the type of person who doesn't like to spend the night out on the town. I guess I am a "homebody" I prefer quiet nights at home to partying, drinking, etc. :)

it's pretty broad, I think it generally refers to a social life though

It means they think you don't have a social life, like maybe you like to be lazy and just watch TV all day or something.
Like me, I would love to just be lazy and watch TV and work on the computer all day. And maybe read and talk to my friends on the phone.
I'm not an outgoing person, and I don't have very many friends because I'm half death and it's hard for people when I keep saying "What?" when I can't hear them.

It's what parents say to their kids when they watch too much TV, play too many video games, go on the computer too much, and hardly ever leave the house and do stuff in the "real world". Seriously though, if going to stupid parties and spending all of my time with friends over who give me headaches is a "life" then I'd rather be told I had no life than to have that kind at all.

having no life means not doing anything worthy of your time.

Having no life means being obsessed with what other people are doing.

I'd like to have a life to a certain extent. For one, I Would like to have a girlfriend.

Actually, Let me rephrase that.....I Would REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY Like to have a girlfriend.

As far as partying and drinking and all that goes, I'm Not interested in any of that. I'd just like to maybe go on an occasional date to the movies or a restaurant or something.

Not me. Too much time and money taken away. Even though I probably will stupidly fall in love or something next year and not even realize what I'm doing....:(

If you're breathing, and your heart's beating, you have a life.

The truth is that most people who tell others to "get a life" really don't have better retorts. They aren't bright enough to say something intelligent in response to a conflict.

When you say "get a life" you're really saying "man...I am such a dumbass I can't even brush my own teeth."

I think the term "having no life" refers to someone who spends all their time infront of a tv/computer screen, and who lives vicariously through someone/something else. It basically means that you have no social life.
Personally, I feel that as long as you are happy it doesn't matter one bit if people think you don't have a life. It only sucks when you're not happy, people tell you that you have no life and you know they're right but don't know what to do about it. I suppose I fall into that category.
I had a social life but it made me miserable because there was this girl that I really liked and it didn't work out and.....yadda yadda......you know how it goes.
I think the whole definition of "not having a life" needs to be re-assessed. Personally, I'd much rather stay at home, watch tv and "have no life" as opposed to hanging out with a group of people with whom I have nothing in common and watch my heart and soul get ripped right outta me every goddam time!
If feeling empty and feeling like a faker because you have to lie in order to get people to accept you is "having a life" then you can f##king keep "life" - I'll do better without it!

Having a life means you have other things to do, than chatting with strangers on a message board. I don't qualify. :)
