TV Ontario had some interesting tv shows during my childhood days of the 1970s,which seem to have all but vanished from the airwaves since then.I wonder if anyone can remember any of them. The first one that comes to mind is ReadAlong,an educational half hour show with both puppet characters and human kid characters.Half of the dialogue would be displayed on the screen for us viewers to read.Among the puppet characters were a talking brown boot simply named Boot,a female talking pink shoe named Pretty, and an old woman puppet named Granny.Later in addition, came a talking skeleton named Mr.Bones, who sang while playing a banjo, and was afraid of the dark.Jeremy was a show that was animated in the same way as the Davey & Goliath shows, with a cute small brown bear with ruby blue eyes named Jeremy. His two friends were a black crow named Mr.Raven, and a yellowish mouse named Hector. This series was first seen in French, and later translated in English. How many people remember Hammy Hamster?Real live animals put in human situations, with their dialogue provided by voice over artists.Hammy a brown hamster,GP a guinea pig who talked like WC Fields, and a white mouse with red eyes named Matty Mouse. In slightly more recent time,I discoverd the Hammy Hamster series available on VHS video. But ReadAlong and Jeremy seem long gone.
