For those of you out there like me who are old enough to have watched Facts of Life thru its original NBC run, what moments stand out in your mind that were cut out of the syndicated and TVLand reruns?... I will give 3 examples:
In the episode from Season 4 when Blair stays up all night with Jo so she can be strong enough to refuse an invitiation from that jerky guy Chad ... they cut out a cute scene where Blair is on the couch with Jo and recounts a painful event from her childhod:
"But daddy, I want the grey one! I want the grey one!!...and he said You'll take the brown pony and like it."
Also, in the Season 6 episode when Kevin moves into the attic, Tootie makes a phony excuse to Kevin when he comes into the kitchen looking for Jo; she tells him Jo went a quilting bee. WHen she comes back, she explains she was gone so long because a riot broke out. I thought that was so hilarious, and Nancy McKeon delivered the line is such a funny way.
These moments don't deserve the cutting room floor, but I know they need more commerical time. If they'd get off their duff and put some seasons on DVD, all those missing scenes could be enjoyed once again!
Finally, there wasa scene in Season 9 where beverly ann is in the kitchen teaching Andy how to shave with a razor by using cake frosting and a spatula. Anyone else remember this??
PS: I dont have my FOL episode guide with me so Im sorry for not using correct epsiode #'s and titles. :-) (next time)

great topic!

Yes that line about the riot at the quilting bee was classic, one of my favs. i have it from the '95 USA Networks verison.

My fav edited scene was from Seven Little Indians when George runs through the house trying to 'flush' the killer out, he screams at the girls and makes them all jump - very funny.

Another edited scene i miss is from 'Ready Or Not' when good ol Bev takes Tootie's flowers from her boyfriend Rudy before he can give them to her - she then runs to the bathroom and u can hear the toilet flush.

Theres lots more...

I will post more edited moments soon when I go home and review my episode guide and refresh my memory. In the meantime, I'd like to make a correction about the quilting bee reference. It was actually like this: Jo was avoiding Kevin after she walked in on him in the attic with that girl from the drug store
-- when he was coming to the kitchen she ran out. Andy and Tootie covered for Jo by saying she went to a quilting bee. Then shortly after that, when Jo reappeared, Kevin says "I thought you were at a quilting bee!" and she says, "Oh, I had to leave -- a riot broke out." Classic. Such clever writing, and so underrated!

Sometimes I have trouble remembering which scenes were edited for the inital syndicated reruns, which were edited for the USA reruns, and which for Nick at Nite/TVLand -- each is different, right? There was a cute scene in episode #27-"Free Spirit" when Natalie is reading her poem while Mrs Garrett's son Alex is strumming his guitar in the cafeteria...her "song" has like 3 more verses that were cut out, and I only got see them onm TVLand.

Do you prefer the USA edits or the N@N/TVL versions??

PS: Anyone else the SLOPPY editing job on the USA version of "Come Back to the 5 & Dime,Natalie Green Natalie Green?"
It was at the end when Mrs G asked "Was my entrance ok,I had to balance all those cookies!" - right before she says it, there is a very abrupt cut, like mid-sentence where Tootie doesnt even get to complete her line. I guess someone in the editing booth was hitting the sauce. :)
One more "choppy" editing moment is in episode #179 "62 Pick Up" -- in the uncut version from NBC, Bev reminisces about the 60s and one of the girls (cant remember which) says to her "Dont tell me you went arund looking like a refugee from a beach blanket movie!" and then Andy says "Yo Annette! Hurt me!"
-- in the edited version,Beverly blurts out "60s were wonderful"-- so they skipped over the Annette references. It was not a smooth edit, so Beverly Ann seems to be SHOUTING her line... anyone else notice this?
