View Full Version : Proposition for an "I Am Offended" Bill for Sitcoms Online

As an online community, I think Sitcoms Online has the responsibility of making sure that no jokes are told that may offend any class of people, animals or inanimate objects. Here are a few examples of what I consider to be inappropriate humor:

A horse walks into a bar and orders a beer. The bartender asks, “Why the long face?”

This joke clearly breaks the code of political correctness. First of all, it reinforces the negative stereotype of alcoholic horses. For centuries, the equine community has been trying to shed their beer-loving image. Jokes like these only hinder their progress. Secondly, no one should make fun of long faces. This joke also offends bartenders, people who go to bars but aren’t alcoholics, alcoholics who go to bars, alcoholics who don’t go to bars, and people who don’t go to bars and aren’t alcoholics.

Q: What did the spoon say to the knife?
A: Nothing...spoons can’t talk!

This one is even worse. It discriminates against persons of different cultural backgrounds who use cutlery different than spoons and knives. It also implies that communication is limited to talking, thereby discriminating against several groups of persons with limited communication abilities.

Q: What do you get when you cross a lawyer with a demon from hell?
A: No changes occur.

Lawyers are a group of hard-working, honest people who don’t deserve to be made fun of. Also, the fact that demons are a minority doesn’t mean people should make fun of them. Demons have feelings too.

A: What is the similarity between a smart blonde, Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy?
Q: None of them exist.

This joke is offensive to blondes, Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, people who believe in Santa Clause, people who believe in the Tooth Fairy, and Christians. It is also offensive to people with a sense of humor.

Any more suggestions?

So a joke like...A cannibal went to a resturant and had two waitresses, and a busboy....would be offensive to cannibals?

Yeah, I made all of these up. Well, except the jokes. I wouldn't want credit for those.
