Last year, in honor of TV Guide's 50th birthday, TV Guide released a few issues counting down the top 50 in a variety of different catergories. One of the issues counted down the top 50 TV Shows. I know The Dick Van Dyke Show was on it, but I don't remember it's ranking! Anyone know what it ranked, or where on the web I can see the list? Thanks!

I remember seeing that article in TV Guide, but I do not remember the ranking. This months Reader's Digest is their second annual humor issue. They list several of the best sitcoms (in their opinion) and TDVDS is not mentioned. I just might have to write them a letter!!!

Maybe I'll write them a letter, too, lol! Just out of curiousity Lolac, was "I Love Lucy" on the Reader's Digest list? No one ever forgets "I Love Lucy," but TDVDS is often pushed aside by it. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge "I Love Lucy" fan but there's something about TDVDS that I like better!

Believe it or not, Kurt, I Love Lucy was not on the list either. Only 2 of my favorites are on the list, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and M*A*S*H. Oh, and All in the Family.

I found a link to the TV Guide list. Here it is: http://www.ez-entertainment.net/features/tvguide50.htm

TDVDS only ranked 13. :( If it were up to me TDVDS would be in the top 5, with I Love Lucy, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, All in the Family and Seinfeld. (TMTMS wasn't in the top 5, either but it should have been, IMO!)

Thanks for posting that link. I think TDVDS and TMTMS should have both been in the top 5 too. I'm glad that they made the list, along with All in the Family, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, Cheers, M*A*S*H, The Bob Newhart Show, Taxi and The Cosby Show. :)

Somewhere in storage I have an old issue of Entertainment Weekly that listed the Top TV Shows of All Time. To the magazine's credit, it listed The Mary Tyler Moore Show as no. 1, just barely ahead of The Dick Van Dyke Show at no. 2 (as for myself, I would have switched the order, but that's OK). There were black and white photographs of Dick and Mary together with one of them holding a steering wheel and the other mugging in reaction to the other driving.

Is this the one you mean, Hume?
It's a great shot. Thanks for reminding us of this.

(sorry, I have the pic, but I just can't get it to post! )
