No, I think these are supposed to be things that are like the characters, as some of the others match the characters perfectly. But I agree, I wouldn't think Niles would marry anyone for money. Maybe it's suggesting that Niles married Maris for her money? Even Frasier asked him if he had. But I don't think he married her for her money; I think he genuinely loved her.
