I think they should, Seinfeld is getting three seasons released at once. It would save the companies money from low sells if they released a small series all at once and bigger series as 2 or more at a time.

View Full Version : Should more than one season of a show be released at a time? James"Thunder"Early 08-25-2004, 06:08 PM I think they should, Seinfeld is getting three seasons released at once. It would save the companies money from low sells if they released a small series all at once and bigger series as 2 or more at a time. Dean Winchester 08-25-2004, 06:17 PM I personally would not be opposed to a "complete series" set, but under the condition it's NOT in a digipack foldout case... but instead of the "small seperate cases inside a box"like Family Guy and Roswell have. Brian 08-25-2004, 07:38 PM That would be good, especially for shows with 3 or 4 seasons. I also think that studios should release every season of a series on DVD regardless of how they sell. I used to collect taped series off of TV on VHS but by now the quality is poor. People who buy these season sets hope to have every episode of a series without having to use a VCR and view tapes that have dust or have just plain deteriorated. In addition, some series have even better seasons later in the show's run than in the first year or two. Like The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I could name quite a few classic episodes that would help boost DVD sales. One season is not enough. Like I've always said, classic TV shows on DVD must be promoted well if companies expect people to see and buy them. Unfortunately it's always the 90s and 2000s shows that get a lot of commercial time. I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that that is the reason season sets of Friends, CSI, and other prime time shows of the 1990s to the present are selling well while classic shows from the 50s to the 80s are getting the short shrift. spunkygirl 08-25-2004, 07:49 PM Yes if it's a show with like 2 or 3 seasons, but other wise no, because it jacks up the price of the set(like Seinfeld's is), and most people might not be able to afford if it's too high. I like one season at a time. Also if the first season of a show is short(like Wings) then I say they should put Seasons 1 and 2 together, but otherwise no :) Dean Winchester 08-25-2004, 08:39 PM I think that releasing more season than one is good. Pull a Star Trek or Dick Van Dyke with the sets and release them as close together as possible, and then let the fans buy them when they want. Usually people don't like waiting 6 months to a year to over 2 years (Mary Tyler Moore) or even over 3 years (Twin Peaks) for a tv season. like AKA mentioned Cheers would take 44 discs for the entire series... they could release a "Shelley Long Years" box set now, and then a few months later release a "Kirstie Alley Years" set. vashti1999 08-25-2004, 09:22 PM Originally posted by barwars AKA, barwars, same difference. I think King Forrester was talking about releasing more than one season at a time, as opposed to combining a number of seasons in one package. If it's a show that I'd want that much, I'll take it either way, but yes, it would be good if multiple seasons were released at the same time. At least the buying public would know that they're out there and available when they're able to afford them. Just make them available to likely buyers and not be so concerned with how many units season X sold. James"Thunder"Early 08-25-2004, 10:10 PM I think three season shows should be released at the same time and longer show released two seasons at a time. you don't have to buy all seasons at once, you can buy whenever. I think shows like Cheers and The Jeffersons are too big too release one season at a time, they should be released 2 at a time. Adamantium 08-26-2004, 07:40 PM I like the season sets coming out one at a time. I just wish they would come out quicker. Like Cheers could come out once a month. Sure, it would take one month under a year, but that's better than how it's being released now. Think about it, you have a whole month to absorb the first season. By then, you're ready to move on to the next season. Dean Winchester 08-26-2004, 08:28 PM Originally posted by TVAdam I like the season sets coming out one at a time. Ant-Lox 08-28-2004, 10:14 AM I like it how it is....one season at a time..some shows combine seasons 1 & 2...but one season at a time is good enough for me... But 9 months to a year or more. No way |
