I checked out the schedule for tonight and the finale's coming on .. I'm so anxious to see it since I've never seen it before .. I have a feeling I'm gonna cry through it though
I have a question, are they going to replay Three's Company from the beginning after they air the finale?

I've got my VCR programmed to re-record this episode tonight. The last time I taped it, my machine did not cut on until after the theme played and the episode had started. Get the Kleenex ready, especially if you've never seen it!

As far as I know, TVLand is starting over at episode 1, "A Man About the House" tomorrow night @ 11:00 and will show the episodes in sequence, according to their schedule.

A couple years ago .. but they were all repeats and they didn't get to the finale. Well I just saw it and it was sooo sad. I cried through like the whole thing :( I still think Jack and Janet should've ended up together, I didn't like Vicky, I thought she was bratty. I didn't like her dad either. The saddest part was when they were all saying goodbye, like when Larry was saying goodbye to Jack, he looked like he was going to burst out crying. It was just really sad.

They left two holes open as the series ended. No mention of what Mr. Furley and Larry plans were going to be.

I know! If I had written the final episodes for Three's Company, it would have been VERY different.

Yeah! I cried because I was sad that TC was over, and I was mad that Jack moved in with Vicky. I had very mixed emotions. I almost hate watching the finale. Other than All In The Family, I think Three's Company had one of the worst finales I've ever seen on a sitcom.

I still think they should have all went to the Reagle Beagle for one last time

I just watched it (had it recorded so I could skip the commercials), and it wasn't that bad. I think it's stupid how Jack was only with Vicky for two weeks, so the "love" between them seemed kind of forced. Who really loves someone that much after just knowing each other for two weeks? I mean, I don't know love, but that seems kind of fast. It was helped with them just moving in, though. Getting married that quickly would have been stupid.

Who was that Phillip guy? Was he ever in another episode before? Was he a guy that Janet had known for a while? I've only seen a small amount of episodes before season 7, and I've seen most episodes on seasons 7 and 8, so I don't know if Phillip was on before.

It was sad. I've grown so attached to the characters, and watching Terri turn out the light and close the door for the final time made me very sad. :(

No Phillip was just brought in Three's Company, just like Vicky. If you saw "The Heiress" when Janet gets named in a customer's will, Phillip is that customer's nephew.

I don't know. Three's Company is one of the greatest shows ever (In my opinion, anyway). Not only because it's funny as hell, but because you grow attached to the characters. It's not just your typical comedy where you watch it to get some laughs and that's it. It's sad to see it end. So I don't think it's pathetic with some shows. Especially TC.

Man, did I ever cry ? I cried for an hour and a half, through three episodes. I started to cry right when Jack and Vicky kissed the first time. I knew it was ALL gonna end there. My dad made fun of me for crying too. He doesn't appreciate my shows.

I thought I would be strong but Jack and Janet’s tête-à-tête in Cupid Works Overtime had me extremely heartbroken. :crying:
At least, Jack struggling not to cry (when Janet and Terri embraced and sobbed) was hilarious.

It's really hard to believe that such a wonderful show would have such a horrible ending! To me, the ending didn't fit with the rest of the series!

ITA; especially with the last three seasons. It seemed that the show was leading up to Jack and Janet becoming a couple. What a total shock in the finale!

For me, the sad thing about Cupid Works Overtime is that I felt nothing for the Jack and Vicky pairing. Even though I tried to like them as a couple; I just simply couldn't. The effort was there for J/V but it felt bogus to me.

To make matters worse, when Jack and Janet was together on the couch, even though it was heartrending and was about them going their separate ways, I thought it was so romantic. *sigh* Isn't that weird?

I agree, the last two seasons made it seem like they were going to get together, but they never did. There were just certain episodes where you thought something was going to happen. When I first saw "She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not", I thought something was going to happen. Like when Jack wanted to be alone with Janet, I seriously thought anything could happen.
I didn't feel anything for the Jack and Vicky pairing either, there was nothing special about her, I don't know what he saw in her, must've been on something when he said that. There was no chemistry whatsoever, I would've rather seen Chrissy or Cindy with Jack than Vicky!

Oops ... I changed my post since your reply. I changed that the last three seasons made it seem like Jack and Janet were going to get together. The reason I edited my post was that episodes such as Some of That Jazz and Mate for Each Other took place in Season 6. They sort of hinted at serious romantic possibilities for J/J.
(From my faulty memory; I think Jack was all over Janet in Up in the Air. But I believe Jack was flying high at the time so I don't remember if it was romantic or not.)

I agree that in She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not it seemed like something was going to happen. When Jack had his discussion with who he thought was Janet (it was Larry since he just traded beds with Janet); Jack seemed really serious about starting a romantic relationship with Janet, if she wanted too. I believe that Janet crushed on Jack at the start of the series but by at least season 5-6 Jack started to have a crush on Janet, if not a stronger one than she had for him.

Thanks for the confirmation about the lack of believability with J/V. I thought I was the only person who didn't find J/V romantic. Jack seemed to have better chemistry with any one of his roommates than he had with Vicky.

Hmm ... I don't know what it is. I guess maybe the actors, John and especially Mary, seemed too stiff when they had scenes together. It felt like they were just reading their lines and that's that. When John was with Joyce, the scene flowed very natural; and I realize it was the little things such as body language that made their scene seem realistic and a lot more romantic. Ah well; I guess innate chemistry is very hard to gauge when casting actors for a role. It's either there or not.

Sorry about babbling on and on but the whole J/J situation is such an enigma. *sigh*

Jack was all over Janet in Up In the Air, but he was kinda loopy in that episode. I agree about Janet having a crush on Jack, and later it seemed Jack was attracted to her. I just saw that episode Bird Song and I loved how Jack went to Janet for affection
I haven't seen Three's A Crowd (and I never plan to) but from the last episodes of Three's Company, it did seem that they were just reading their lines. With John and Joyce, it seemed so natural, like they were enjoying it, you know?
And trust me, you are not that only person who thought Jack and Vicky weren't romantic, because they weren't.

I agree that episode She Loves Me She Loves Me Not is defently a Jack and Janet epi where the view execpted more then what we got. And aslo in most episodes like Up in the Air, Jack's Tatto, a Night Not to Remember and even when Janet gets hit by that guy that Jack is boxing with in Jack goes the Distance (I think), they are out of their 5 senses and they both admit the attraction one feels for the other. They kissed alot, admit the other is cute or that they want to be with each other or something!! Which most of been true that they felt someting for each other since they were being totally honest and not thinking about what they were saying or doing!!!;)!!!!!

I KNOW!! And you know...everyone goes on an on about how J/J would have changed Three's A Crowd if it was them? Well, She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not was the beginning of Season Eight, and I'm not really sure as to how much time passed in one season. A year? Six months? My point (Yes I do have one! ) is that it's a period of time elapsing, not just a few weeks. And you - Honey Bear - said that Jack appeared serious about starting a romantic relationship with Janet if she so wanted. Well, how exactly would that of changed the dynamic of Three's Company? I mean, with respect to the three of them living together and with respect to Larry and Terri and Furley and all that. J/J were already best friends, now they'd just be best friends who kiss? What's the big change? Everything?

They wouldn't just be best friends who kissed. They would be admitting that they had feelings for each other, and would probably spend more time with each other, think about each other more, kiss more, etc. You can't tell me that Jack thought about Janet every minute of everyday! Not everything would be different, but just certain things.

Certain things would be different...but like what? If they were to have the exact same episodes - the ones with Vicky and Phiilip excluded - but have Jack and Janet be together, how would it have changed it? And If J/J did meet Vicki and Phillip, how do you think that would have played out?

Certain things like the trio's relationship changing, like with Terri. And plus everyone's reactions to Jack and Janet's new relationship! I don't know how anything would've played out, because I never wanted Jack and Janet to meet Phillip and Vicky! So I don't know!

I recently missed seeing Jack goes the Distance on my local affiliate station. :crying: I just vaguely remember that episode.
Also my local affiliate just skipped Roper's Niece; because Pres. George W. Bush's speech went overtime that night. :cuss:

There was also the end of Janet Shapes Up, a private moment between J/J that made it seem like they were already a couple. It was how they embraced and lingering in each other arms that gives the impression they were a little more than just mere platonic friends. If I didn't know the history of this show, I would've thought they were lovers or even a married couple. There's also the bizarre ending to Odd Couples. Was the kiss between J/J an ad-lib? Janet (unlike Terri) barely put up a fight. How did Terri explain that her supposed husband is making out with their French house guest? Did Terri have to throw a bucket of cold water on J/J to extinguish their flame?  In Jack's Tattoo, Jack gave Janet a salacious kiss. She only meekly struggled and didn't even seem to mine at all afterwards. (Why was Janet so deeply concerned about Jack's ... ahem ... plumbing, if they were just friends? )
Even in Cupid Works Overtime, Jack acted like he was mortally wounded when Janet said that she was going to get married and move out of the apartment. That’s an odd reaction from a guy who's supposedly nothing more than an innocent friend.
Dang, this show was such a tease. :mumble:

I feel that by Season 8, Jack and Janet did already deeply love each other even though it never developed into a physical love. By Season 8, J/J were already kissing like crazy. AFAIK, they just stopped short of a physically intimate relationship. I feel that if a physical love developed between them, it would've changed the social dynamics of the show. J/J would be playing a higher stakes game since with a physical love comes a higher degree of commitment and responsibility.

It would be odd for Terri if J/J became romantic while she was still living in the apartment. I think that most likely J/J would try to be respectful in Terri's presence. Of course; it would cause some strange moments if J/J developed romantic feelings for each other but tried to keep it from Terri. Terri would then occasionally catch J/J in some awkward moments. J/J would then have to explain the situation, most likely with a really lame (but hilarious) excuse.

As for Larry, I think he would be very happy for J/J and probably would say that it was about time they got together.
Mr. Furley would be another story. I think RF would be happy for J/J but it would cause problems since there's not suppose to be any hanky-panky going on. I think J/J would have to hide their affair from Furley until they moved out.
