Does anyone know why J. Pat O'Malley, who orignally played Rob's father (Sam Petrie) was replaced with Tom Tully in later episodes?

I was wondering this for a long time, but was unabel to find an answer.

Thanks

I looked him up at the IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0641729/). It looks like he was a pretty busy guy during that time, so there might have been some schedule conflicts. I'm not sure.

Yes, you are right. I was wondering the same thing, just do not know any one one has anything offical on it.

I think he did a great job in the episode he was in.

Thanks.

O'Malley himself replaced Will Wright, who originated the role of Sam Petrie in Empress Carlotta's Necklace. Wright died in 1962 before What's in a Middle Name was filmed, so O'Malley was needed to take over the role then.
