Why do you all seem to think that shaving a cats fur is cruel? Persian cats have to be brushed 3 times a day or else their fur will get all tangled and matted. If this happens to them it's really uncomfortable - even painful - for them so shaving their fur off is the humane thing to do.
I really wish I had a scanner because I have pictures of a persian cat who'd had his fur shaved off. His name was 'Sammy' and he belonged to an old woman who owned a caravan site that I stayed at one summer. He was the most bizarre creature I've ever seen - a big fuzzy orange head, fuzzy orange feet and a big puffy orange tail.............but a totally smooth, skinny, shaven body! He used to wander back and forth on the grass all day looking seriously pissed off. I can say I blamed him.
He was so funny I made sure I took plenty of photographs of him. I still have them in my room somewhere.
I wonder what ever happened to ol' Sammy.......
