I don't exactly know where this should be posted, so I'm sorry if it's not on the right board.

I'm thinking about changing my screename, but I'm not sure if the change will affect my SO account. Has anybody done this before? Before I do anything, I want to make sure I won't lose my username here.

If that makes any sense, I'd appreciate some help. :o

screenname and username are the same thing :)

it won't affect your account, the only thing that will change on your account is the name :)

Well - when TJ changes it, you have to remember to log in with your new name and not your old one...

For instance, I got him to change my name from Miss Vicki to PZelda...I CAN'T try to log on under my old Miss Vicki name, because it won't work now, so I have to remember to type in PZelda.

It won't affect anything at all, and TJ won't have to log your account out for the change to take place. :D

I think she means she doesn't want to lose her post total.

I probably didn't make myself clear. What I mean is if I change my screename...the name I log on to the internet with, not my SO username...will I still be able to be "david&maddie4ever" on this site?

In other words, when I get on SO, the only reason it knows it's me is because it recognizes my screename. If that changes, will it still let me use "david&maddie4ever"?

yep, mine's automatic.

it won't affect this site at all, cause this site has a separate screenname.

I've had like 4 or 5 username changes...Yeah, he doesn't log you out for it to change...The next time you log out, you just have to remember to type in your new username. ;)

:lol: I stay logged in, it's much easier, but since I use mozilla, I won't ever forget my password :D
