I've seen you say several times that you hate those shows (and several other African-American shows), but I have never read an explanation of why you hate them. If you could tell us what exactly makes these shows bad instead of just rolling your eyes, then we all wouldn't be forming a certain opinion of you.

I know Jen's hatred for Cosby is legendary, but what's so bad about A Different World? it's not like you can complain that it's overplayed. Or is it because of it's former timeslot? it's premiere signalled Family Ties' move from Thursday nights to a less cozy Sunday timeslot.

This whole... situation reminds me of the scene in The Breakfast Club where they're sitting around trying to get Claire to answer a question, and the more they ask.. the more pissed off she gets. :o :lol:

How about just dropping the hatred you have towards me?

I think it wasn't about TCS, but when you listed practically every major series of the past 40 years with a leading African-American character in the list of shows you hated that set most people off. No biggie if you dislike Cosby, but if that was to the extent of "black shows" you hated, that'd be much different

I'm just asking a simple question. We aren't being mean. If we wanted to be mean, we would have already typed out what we're thinking. I seriously wish we're wrong about you - and I want to give you a chance to explain that the reason you don't like these shows has nothing to do with race. If you stick to "no comment," then I'm afraid the conclusion is obvious...

Unless i'm wrong, yes, Cybill is a Carsey-Warner produced comedy. I rmeember an apperance on Oprah back in the day when Brett Butler refered to herself, Cybill, Roseanne and someone else as the Carsey-Warner Women.

Cybill is a Carsey-Warner show as is Bill Cosby's other show Cosby. ( I hadn't seen that one mentioned here either).

I was going to leave well enough alne, but you have continued to make comments in other threads regarding this, which isn't cool.

Sorry, I just wanted you to give us an answer.

I don't mean to start an argument but only to say something that I think is important. This is not just directed at Jen but at everyone. Everybody in the world has prejudices - that's normal. But only a few of us become aware of it. Racism is a tricky topic because schools all over the place are always teaching us not to be racist without even properly explaining what racism is. As a result, very few people examine themselves well enough to know if they have prejudices or not. In countries like Brazil, which are known for having mythical "racial democracies," many people are friends with black people and idolize black celebrities, and yet they are still racist. I had to do lots of research on racism before I felt I fully understood it. It's not as simple as it appears.

Ok, I'm done preaching. And once again, I don't mean to put you on the spot this time. I'm not being petty or spiteful - I really think it's something people should look into. All that research changed my perspective on things.

Yeah i like Roseanne, well enough, but not as much as thoes other Carsey-Warner shows.
