Today I went to my college to see what my dorm room looks like before I actually move in and it is REALLY small! It's like the size of a walk-in closet! My roommate and I have to share this room, but I think we'll manage and think of ideas to move the furniture around and make it look "bigger" if we can! I can always go home on some weekends, too, because my house is only a 40 minute drive from school.

So, I'm just wondering those who have lived in dorms before how were your rooms and were they really small?

Yeah, I remember those walk in closet rooms that 2 people are supposed to share. I was lucky, my roommate dropped out of school before it started so I had a room to myself. It was nice :)

my "walk in closet" actually had a walk in closet....so I can't complain. :D It was one of the suites on the floor that had two bedrooms and a bathroom attached. there were four of us - two to a room. I loved it, but quickly got sick of the dorms in general. everyone did at one point or another. I miss them, but it's going to be so nice to have my own bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living room, etc this year. although I'm going to miss my walk in closet...I just have a regular sized closet in my apartment this year.

I'll find out in a week

I know the room is 12 ft by 15 ft, which when laid out on the floor with tape doesnt look too bad (for a dorm that is).

My room is exactly 10x10. And yeah, when you have a queen-sized bed in there...That takes up the majority of the room. :o

I'm totally not going to get used to my dorm room because my bedroom at home is huge! It's the master bedroom and I don't have to share it with anyone. I love it! the only time I ever had to share a room with anyone was with my brother when we were really little. Other than that I've always had my own room, so I think this will be a good learning experience for me!

WSU is only 15 minutes away, when I go to college my mom is lettingme get an apt and just use the home mailing adress.

My mom will actually probably buy a duplex in Pullman and rent out half of it and let my stepbrother and I live in the other half:), if my mom owns it I think it would be especially easy to say I lived with family.

I never want to live in a dorm

So now we got rid of that and are going to get a smaller bed. It's like a breath of fresh air, even though it is small as hell...at least you can take more than two steps in it.

My dorm room sucked! It was tiny, at the end of the hall by the door (I heard everyone coming in and out), and it was hotter then hell. And since I had no desire to sleep on a loft 6 inches from the ceiling, I slept on the floor, taking up more space.

And the neighbors....UGH.

I hear that too. I don't want to hear your party, I don't want to hear you have sex, and I don't want to walk into the bathroom half-blind at 3am and step in puke.
