Wondered if anyone else thought it odd that Charles obviously spent the night with Martine (and I doubt they were playing Cribbage all night), yet he ditched her when she mentioned that she'd lived with a man she hadn't been married to?

Yes it was a double standard but I think he was concerned that she would never be excepted by his family and so in his mind they were at a dead end.

Charles didn't think Martine would be accepted by his rich folks because of her past. I thought they made a cute couple.

They were a cute couple,Charles was always falling for women who were so different from him and his background I would like to think he would have followed his heart and not his head.
