Reba's best friend from high school, Carla Raynier (Jean Smart) shows up. Carla left her cheating husband and Reba invites her to stay in her house, in Kyra's old room. Carla becomes a part of the family. Cheyenne becomes pregnant with Van's 2nd child. Barbara Jean becomes pregnant with Brock's 2nd child also. Kyra enters her sophomore year of high school. Jake enters the 4th grade. Jake befriends the new neighbor girl, Natalie (Dakota Fanning). Natalie and Jake are in the same class at the same school. Natalie's family has moved next door to Reba's house. Kyra gets a steady boyfriend, David (Ryan Pinkston), who is the same age as her. Cheyenne's water breaks at Jake's school's Christmas concert. Cheyenne gives birth to a beautiful and healthy bay boy--Alexander Michael Montegomery "Alex". As the family gathers to see Van, holding Elizabeth, sitting on the bed with Cheyenne, holding newborn Alex--Barbara Jean's water breaks. Barbara Jean has difficulties during labor, but after 12 hours of painful labor, she gives birth. Barbara jean gives birth to a healthy and beautiful baby girl--Emily Lauren Hart. Reba, Carla, Kyra, David, and Jake goes back and forth visiting the Hart family and visiting the Montegomery family. For a few months, Carla's feisty yet extremely gorgeous 18 year old daughter, Ashlee Raynier (Megan Fox) comes to visit. Ashlee is constantly parading around in very skimpy clothes-which makes the men (Brock, Van, David, and Jake) speechless when she walks into the same room as them.
