In fact -- on MTM and Seinfeld -- every single supporting character was better than the lead.

karen walker and jack mcfarland have to be the ultimate current supporting characters on tv...they make will and grace the CURRENT best sitcom on nbc...

Phoebe and Joey...i know it was an ensemble but even in the finale they sort of helped the couples with the main story ...ie the babies and the reconcilation...they were limited because they were never a couple...we won't discuss the whole Joey/Rachel mess.P/J would have made a great couple
