View Full Version : Who's the coolest veteran actor?
GeorgeJefferson 08-15-2004, 02:50 AM Even though they may not be as young as they used to be, these guys are still great to watch in movies today. Infact, I'd probably rather see one of their films over those of most of the young stars that rise and fall every month. It's always great when an older, wiser guy, who still possesses the charisma of another age, exhibits his wit and wisdom among those of a younger generation. And let's face it: most of those guys are gone.
But out of these choices, who's the coolest?
dandelion wine 08-15-2004, 02:59 AM Like a fine wine, these men just keep getting better with age. This wasn't an easy choice but I went with Jack Nicholson.
Mr. Television 08-15-2004, 03:33 AM I'll go with Clint Eastwood.
Small Wonderian 08-15-2004, 03:34 AM Clint Eastwood
ThirteenInchEscape 08-15-2004, 05:06 AM I couldnt decide between Nicholson and Eastwood
i think when they were both in their prime Nicholson was far better, but Eastwood has distinguished himself as an exceptional director
Chambers 08-15-2004, 09:46 AM Anybody but Eastwood.
I'll go with Newman or Nicholson. But Newman gets the edge because he sells salad dressing. Come on people, it's salad dressing!! You can't beat that. Plus, I just can't think of Jack as a veteran actor for some reason.
Brian Damage 08-15-2004, 11:08 AM I chose Gene Hackman....but my real first choice is Christopher Walken who wasn't on your list.
Mijada 08-15-2004, 12:14 PM Out of that list I pick paul Newman.
Rhiannon 08-15-2004, 12:21 PM I voted James Garner, but that was a good list.
Ewan's My Man 08-15-2004, 01:48 PM Hmm...I'm gonna have go with Jack Nicholson
James Garner.
He was Jim Rockford! Nuff said!
;)
Nighthawk76 08-15-2004, 02:19 PM Paul Newman
Janice 08-15-2004, 02:51 PM I voted for Jack Nicholson, but would have given Robert De Niro my vote had he been listed.
ThirteenInchEscape 08-15-2004, 05:37 PM De Niro and Walken are both 61, the requirements here were to be at least 65
most of the rest of these guys are 70 or older
Crimson and Clover 08-15-2004, 07:56 PM Jack Nicholson
Penny Lane 08-15-2004, 09:17 PM Paul Newman. Love those Paul's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eyes:
Brian 08-15-2004, 10:05 PM Really tough choice. Two of the guys on that list that I really like are Jack Nicholson and Gene Hackman. I'm going with Hackman.
GeorgeJefferson 08-15-2004, 11:52 PM Personally, I think Eastwood is the best star among these other great legends. He may not necessarily be the best actor, but his movies never get tiring to watch and his no-nonsense approach is fun to watch in all his movies from "A Fistful of Dollars" to "Blood Work."
Jrnygrl 08-16-2004, 02:07 AM I picked Warren Beatty. He did his thing during his day, and now he is just keeping on the downlow, something I wish Nicholson would do. JMO!

dr frasier crane 08-17-2004, 12:41 AM I would definitely say Jack Nicholson. He's forever cool.
crystals 08-17-2004, 12:47 AM I think one of the coolest veteran actors is Robert Duvall, but he's not on that list.

Yes, there's a good one that I forgot to put on the list. This guy is in so many good movies, yet he seems so underrated compared to some of his older costars like De Niro or the younger stars like Travolta or Costner who seem to overshadow him in movies. You're right though, he's still definitely one of the coolest!

Christopher Walken is cool. However, he is only 61.

De Niro is actaully 10 years younger then Duvall, not older.
GeorgeJefferson 08-18-2004, 12:50 PM I meant "older" in comparison to Duvall's younger costars with whom he makes movies today, not Duvall himself.

The Modfather 02-27-2005, 01:47 PM He's not on your list for some reason, but De Niro is my favourite actor.
