Did anyone notice that on the Facts of Life epsiode in which Jo breaks Blair's watch that in the court room, there is a couple before them who are fighting over the rights of a parakeet. One got them on weekdays, the other on weekends. It was a 1984-1985 season episode.
Anyway, William Pierson played the husband. First name John. Could this be our dean? We never know his first name. He's my theory:
The dean steals the Ropers parakeet. He resigns as dean of the cooking school, and moves to New York. He and his wife then get a divorce.

Could this be possible?? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

Jack: I'm surprised at you. Where would all the great women of history be if they thought like that!? Look at Joan of Ark and wht she accomplished. And, and Florence Nightengale and Madam Curry.
Chrissy: And Lucretia Borzok.
Janet: She posioned people.
Chrissy: Yeah, but she was very goo at it.

What happened was, ABC told Mr. Pierson that he wouldn't guest star on any more episodes in around 1982. He was really desperate for some acting, so NBC hired him about 3 years later after he was told off by ABC, to be in FOL. He would be in disguise though because ABC didn't want people to want the character back.
