Personally I found the four part episode"The Runaways",where Julie runs away with Chuck Butterfield,the most depressing episode there ever was.From beginning to end,the traumatic screaming and hollering between Ann and Julie,Ann fighting with Chuck's parents,even at the very end when Julie finally comes home,her and Barbara are no sooner at eachother's throats about the condition of their bedroom.Anyone else have thoughts about this episode?:(

its probaly my favorite ep the hippies that chuck and julie pick up were hystrical altho i have a little trouble beleveing that guy was a porno actor no prodcuer of those type of movies could be that despret

TV Guide criticized this four part episode in 1976 because they felt the show was becoming TOO DRAMATIC.

Yeah the TV Guide critic was saying why were some the 1976 comedies like Good Times, Maude, One Day at a Time and All in the Family becoming so dramatic. His Quote was

"Archie has had a affair and lost his job, James Evans has been killed, Julie Romano has run off witn a boy, and Walter Findlay has gone bankrupt and tried suicide. What's next? A nervous breakdown for Captain kangaroo"?

I like these episodes. I guess the reason why this stuck out more than others because it was so serious. Most all of these episodes I haven't seen since the original broadcasts. I remember feeling Ann's despair because she didn't know what was going on with Julie.

It doesn't say anything because you were older but still kind of young in 76. It would be nice to talk to someone who was about 18 in 76 so i can find out certain things.
