It's been a year (tomorrow) since "The Big Blackout" Where were you?

I was at home when it happened and we lost power for 4 hours.

It's been a yearl already? The year sure went by fast.

I was at my grandparent's house in Northern California. I read about it online.

I wasn't affected by it and therefore I don't remember.

I was at work, and later my house, basking in all my electricity. ;)

I was right here, online. ;)

I was never affected by it, but I do remember reading about it and seeing it on the news.

I was at home with no power and I was bored out of my mind.

Sitting here on the computer. The computer went out for a second, and the lights flickered, but that's all that happened at my house. My cousins had no power, though.

I remember the blackout last year since I was coming home from Windum and had some ice cream at the place in Catskill and I heard that it was a blackout since I came home from the trip.:eek: I have a radio runs by batteries and I was dosing off until 9:00 PM, the electricity came back on. That was one of my sad moments in history. I remember a blackout where they just had tiny bits of power to shoot pieces of The Daily Show and Conan, but I thought that was winter

The blackout didn't reach West Michigan, but my brothers were at Cedar Point they weren't on any rides when it happend but they did see a group of people that had to walk down the first hill of Mean Streak.

I was stuck at the dang airport, trying to get home after flying in from Germany. ERGH. That was not something I ever want to go through again. They closed the entire airport and evacuated it. To this day I don't know what happened to all those people that had nowhere to go - none of the airlines would pay for hotels and even if they would the hotels couldn't check anybody in. I was so lucky to have my flight reinstated (five hours later). It's a year exactly? Oh dear. Glad I'm not flying back for another week! ;)

I was at home: I lost power for 12 hours. :mad:

Since I'm in an entirely different country to you guys I'm gonna have to go for the "It didn't effect me" option.

I was at home watching television . When the power went out I accused my husband(who was in the garage) of blowing a circuit breaker. But soon enough we realized that there was definitely something wrong!:lol: We did get back our power(in mid- Michigan) much sooner than other states did. :D I am glad that I was home and not in an elevator or on a roller coaster or something!:eek:

I was at work too. I was in the middle of updating a record when it happened. It came back on for a couple of seconds and then went back out again, so I left.

I got home and the power went out a couple of times for a couple minutes.

It didn't last too long up in Albany, however we closed early the next day cause anyway and they were talking about rolling blackouts for the weekend. It never happened though.

I remember it was wicked hot that week.

I was at my grandmother's house when that happened.

I was at work when evrything just blacked out. At first we thought it was just the local area but someone turned on the radio and they were saying it covered the northeastern US. We were all pretty scared at first because we didn't know what was going on. The drive home from work was a nightmare with no traffic lights working or anything.

I was stilll back in Vancouver, so it didnt affect me, but i was online here at the time talking with some people who "mysteriously disappeared" all at about the same time - it was kinda creepy for a few minutes there :)

I was in NYC over at my cousins for about 2 weeks and the blackout happened. I heard it was Canada's fault.

I remember that night! My friend was in NYC at a hotel playing cards in the dark - I was stuck in a state that is South of Hades, on the phone calling my friend in Canada! LOL

In layman's terms - I wasn't effected by it, but I knew people who were!

I was online, talking to Kristina.

I was here at my house. I was surfing the internet(a tropical storm had just formed in the Gulf) and had MSNBC on in the background when the story started to break. I didn't know what to think at first.

Then I was thankful for my electricity, television, computer, and air conditioning. :p

At home

I was on a train platform in Bayonne, NJ trying to get back into NYC. When no trin came, some passerby mentioned a power outage in the area. Luckily, my co owrker lived a few blocks away, and when I got to his house I heard about the massive power outage. Since I couldn't get back to my beloved New York City, I took our company truck to my parents house in South Jersey.

Wow, it's been a year? Time flies when you're having fun.

As for the 65 blackout, I first heard about that one in 8th grade, in a story we read in English class, in 1971
Then, a couple years later, I saw a stupid romantic comedy with Doris Day called "Where Were You When The Lights Went Out?" that was set against it.
