Yeah. I watched it a little back when it was on TBS, but my first full exposure to the show was through DVD. Florida's bible thumping got on my nerves a little (she's no Aunt Esther).... but besides that I liked it a lot.
Michael was a little too black, if you know what I mean. He seemed to be against everything that was white.
JJ was hilarious, the reason I liked the show in the first place.
Thelma -- she was too pretty to be James and Florida's daughter.'
My favorite episode would have to be the one where the neighbor eats the dog food.... the scene where they try and make Wilona eat first is HILARIOUS.

You are right about Thelma-LOL She defintely was too pretty to be James and Florida Daughter. Also they changed that millitant midget attitude of MichAel after season 2. How bout the writers trying to make viewers believe that Florida and Willona was in the same age bracket?-LOL

I could believe they were in the same age range, maybe 4 or 5 year difference (although I know Wilona was much younger in real life)
My biggest gripe about the series would have to be that they didn't seem to keep James' employment in order. I mean -- some episodes he's employed, others he's not.
I haven't started watching Season 3 yet.... what changes about Michael??
So far my favorite line in the whole show is when JJ takes off his hat and tells Florida that the people around town call him the "knappy kojak"
hahahaha

In late season 2 going to season 3, Michael doesn't say this anymore-"Boy is a white racist word" And Florida looked 15 years older than Willona on the show.

Yeah he wasn;t as loud in the later seasons. The one thing that sticks out to me in season 1 was when Alan willis and George was playing the dozens

It was the reverse on Good Times, James was mellow in season 1 and became more on edge in season 2 and 3.

Ok. I'm guessing that early 1976 should be one of those issues I listed. I remember hearing on The True Hollywood Story that Norman Lear read a article inside of Ebony from early 1976.
