For those MSTies out there, you have probably heard of two new releases that are coming this month and the next.

The first one is MST3K: The Essentials. It features two of the most wanted episodes that fans voted on via a poll conducted by Satellite News. (http://www.mst3kinfo.com/) Those episodes are episodes 424 - Manos the Hands of Fate (with short: Hired! Part 2) and 321 - Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. However, a bonus disc (MST3K: The Shorts Volume 3) will be included if you do one of two things. You could order it via http://mst3000dvd.com or you could call 800-645-2400.

Also announced is the sixth MST3K collection. This one features three episodes never before released by Rhino on DVD. One of them, 511- The Gunslinger, was released on VHS a few years ago but never on DVD. The others are two Season Four episodes. They are episodes 404 - Teenagers from Outer Space and 406 - Attack of the Giant Leeches (with short: The Undersea Kingdom Part 1). Also included with these three episodes are Mr. B's Lost Shorts, featuring six short films seen and riffed on MST3K.

Is it just me or is this some conspiracy to make all MSTies broke?

MST3K is one of my favorite shows, but I have yet to begin my DVD collection. Maybe I'll start with one of the collections.

I guess they'll never release the complete season on DVD.

It is theoretically possible to have season releases but it would be very tough to pull off. I don't know if you know this but they have to get the rights to the movies and that would cost a lot of money per episode. Plus some companies have set the cost of the rights so high on some of the movies that it would be very hard to buy them. Some won't even sell the rights. I'd love to see season sets but it would be almost impossible for Rhino to do it.

Yeah, who would have thought that the rights to those crappy movies that were ridiculed on MST3K would be impossible to secure for future release on DVD. I know that quite a few production companies were angry over what MST did to thier films, so they will never sell their rights again.

I guess I should have made tapes.
