The second case that you refer to is of Gail Delano and although it didn't state this in the segment I believe from her journal entries which were sprinkled throughout the segment she suffered from a severe bipolar disorder. It is a very very tragic heartbreaking case of this single woman with two sons who lived in Maine who wrote things in her journal like "I'm not getting any younger and time seems to be my worst enemy, to say it moves quickly is a joke, to me time seems to stand still"
She read the personals a lot hoping to meet new people, the night before her disappearance she told her sons she was meeting someone named "John" for lunch who called her from the personals. Her car was later found abandoned at the resturant and items scattered as described and no sign of Gail Delano. After awhile an update eventually aired and she flew to the deep south and took her own life in a hotel room
